Registered Nurse
Bring your clinical skills to a role where you can get to know residents and help shape the care they receive. Little Sisters of the Poor is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our casual team at Mount St Joseph’s Home, Randwick, with availability across morning, afternoon and night duty.
You will work alongside residents, their chosen supporters and our multidisciplinary team to deliver care that reflects what matters to each person. Your role combines hands-on nursing, clinical judgement and guidance for care staff, supporting residents to live with dignity, independence and connection.
Quality care in everyday practice
The strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards guide how we approach safe, respectful and individualised care. In this role, you will put these expectations into practice through shared care planning, support for informed choices, early recognition of changing needs and a commitment to learning and improvement.
What you will do
· Partner with residents to assess needs, agree on goals and review care plans, respecting consent, supported decision-making and dignity of risk.
· Deliver evidence-based clinical care
· Recognise and respond to deterioration, coordinate timely reviews and communicate clearly during handovers and care transitions.
· Support people living with dementia through individualised care, and provide compassionate, palliative and end-of-life care that reflects residents’ wishes.
· Work with the team to support nutrition, hydration, infection prevention and residents’ physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual wellbeing.
· Guid and supervise care staff, maintain accurate electronic records and contribute to incident reviews, feedback and practical quality improvements.
What you will bring
· Current AHPRA registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
· Sound assessment skills, clinical judgement and confidence prioritising care and escalating concerns.
· An understanding of the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and how they apply to everyday nursing practice.
· A respectful, inclusive approach, strong communication skills and confidence using electronic medication and care documentation systems.
· A willingness to speak up, learn and support colleagues. Previously aged care nursing experience is highly desirable.
What you can expect
Versatile casual arrangements, competitive hourly rates, free onsite parking and not-for-profit salary packaging, subject to eligibility. Shift availability will depend on the successful applicant’s flexibility and the Home’s operational needs. You will be part of a supportive team with access to ongoing training and professional development.
