This is a hands‑on role reporting to the General Manager – Technology. You'll work across our freight platform (MachShip), Salesforce, our in‑house reporting and data warehouse, Python automations and customer integrations. You'll start by building and supporting these systems alongside the GM, take over delivery as you settle in, and over two to three years grow into leading the technology function, including its roadmap, budget, vendors and future hires. Speed matters here, but never at the expense of security. We hold customer and commercial data, and everything we ship has to protect it.
Key responsibilities
- Own our in‑house Python and TypeScript codebases end to end: fixes, new features, tests and code review
- Scope, build and support customer integrations into MachShip, and keep our MachShip, Salesforce and data warehouse integrations healthy
- Build with AI coding assistants as the default, and review and test what they produce before it reaches production
- Find work across the business that AI or automation could do or speed up, and turn the best ideas into working tools
- Build secure systems by default: single sign‑on, least‑privilege access, credentials kept out of code, patched dependencies
- Protect customer and commercial data so people and systems see only what they need
- Be the first point of contact for system issues, and fix the cause rather than the symptom
- Administer Salesforce with a safe test‑then‑deploy routine
- Turn requests from directors, account managers and sales into reports people can act on
- Help set up good engineering habits as the team grows: version control, pull requests,
review and automated testing
About you
- 2–5 years in a hands‑on technical role, such as software developer, data engineer or business systems engineer
- Solid Python and SQL, and the ability to read an unfamiliar codebase and change it safely
- Experience integrating with REST APIs
- Some experience administering a SaaS platform, ideally Salesforce
- Daily, hands‑on use of AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or Cursor, with the judgement to review and test what they write
- Clear communication with non‑technical people: you can turn a vague request into the right tool, and say no with a reason
- Good judgement about risk and security: you check what a change will affect before you make it, and protect data and access by default
- Bonus if you have any of: Salesforce Flow, TypeScript and React, Microsoft 365 and Azure, or experience in freight and logistics
About us
- Multigroup Logistics manages freight for Australian businesses through our trading brands Multigroup Logistics, Trio Freight Management and Gem Logistics. Our technology team is small, practical and close to the business. Most of what we run was built in‑house, and we build AI‑first: most of our software is written with AI coding assistants such as Claude, and we're always looking for ways AI can give the business new capabilities quickly.
- A full‑time, permanent role with real ownership from day one
- A clear path to leading the technology function
- An AI‑first environment where you'll ship work the business uses the next day
- The chance to shape how a growing logistics group uses technology and AI
