Rural Northwest Health is seeking expressions of interest from community members to join our Clinical Governance Committee as a Consumer Representative.
The Clinical Governance Committee oversees the safety and quality of care across RNH. It reviews clinical incidents, quality and safety data, consumer feedback and audit results, and monitors our performance against the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards. As Consumer Representative, you will make sure that every one of those discussions is informed by the perspectives of the patients, carers and communities we serve.
Selection criteria
Applicants should demonstrate:
1. An understanding of clinical governance. The successful candidate will know how health services monitor and improve the safety and quality of care, and the ability to review reports, data and incidents with a consumer and community lens. This may come from previous consumer, committee or governance roles, or from lived, personal or professional experience.
2. An ability to represent the community. The successful candidate will have the capacity to reflect the diversity of people who use RNH services, including differences in age, cultural background, socioeconomic status and education,
and to bring those perspectives into decisions about service delivery.
3. A local connection. The successful candidate will have a geographical base within the Yarriambiack Shire and links with community members and groups across the RNH catchment.
4. A collaborative approach. The successful candidate will have a commitment to working constructively with RNH, service providers and fellow community members to achieve the objectives of the Clinical Governance Committee, as set out in its Terms of Reference.
Eligibility
To maintain an independent consumer perspective, applicants must not be a registered health practitioner, or a current or former employee or Board member of a health service.
Pre-appointment requirements
The successful applicant will need to provide a current and valid police check, a current Working with Children Check, and evidence of influenza vaccination.
Commitment
Please note that this role involves participation in the Clinical Governance Committee and does not constitute a full time position. The Clinical Governance Committee meets five times a year for roughly two hours and are paid a sitting fee for this time. Members are expected to read the committee papers before each meeting.
