Senior Mobile Speed Camera Operator | Full-time | $80,000–$90,000 + Super
Ready to take the next step in your field operations career? Are you a confident, safety-focused operator who enjoys working independently, using technology and supporting a team? Do you have experience in transport, fleet operations, field services, enforcement or another hands-on operational environment?
Acusensus is looking for a Senior Mobile Speed Camera Operator to help deliver road safety operations, support field teams and maintain high standards of safety, quality and performance.
Previous mobile speed camera experience is advantageous, but it is not essential. We’re interested in people with the right attitude, transferable skills and the ability to step into a senior operational role.
About Acusensus Acusensus is an Australian technology success story with a global presence across Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom and New Zealand. Founded in 2018, we develop world-leading imaging and artificial intelligence technology to help reduce road fatalities and injuries caused by distracted driving.
Our purpose is to save lives and make communities safer. By joining Acusensus, you’ll be contributing to technology and operations that make a meaningful difference to road safety.
About the role Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, the Senior Mobile Speed Camera Operator plays an important role in the safe, compliant and effective delivery of mobile speed camera operations across an allocated operational area.
This is a hands-on position combining approximately 70% operational delivery with 30% team leadership and development. You’ll operate mobile speed camera enforcement systems while supporting colleagues, providing practical coaching, monitoring operational quality and helping resolve issues in the field.
You’ll also have opportunities to take on additional responsibility, support regional operations when required and develop your leadership capabilities, with a potential pathway towards a Regional Operations Manager position.
What you’ll be doing
- Deliver field operations: Safely set up, operate and pack down mobile speed camera enforcement equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Support and develop the team: Coach colleagues, share knowledge, assist with training and help build consistent operational capability across the team.
- Promote a strong safety culture: Conduct safety checks and audits, identify hazards, lead toolbox talks and follow up on corrective actions.
- Maintain equipment readiness: Monitor equipment condition,
assist with technical issues and make operational decisions within approved guidelines.
- Drive quality and compliance: Review operational results, identify recurring errors and trends, and help implement improvements.
- Coordinate operational delivery: Support team planning, respond to staffing challenges and help ensure operations meet service and contract requirements.
- Communicate effectively: Liaise with the Network Operations Centre and operational leaders, provide clear briefings and escalate issues when required.
- Manage challenging situations: Deal professionally with members of the public, including people who may be frustrated, confrontational or abusive.
- Support continuous improvement: Identify practical ways to improve safety, efficiency, equipment readiness and team performance.
- Step up when needed: Provide operational support and leadership cover for the Regional Operations Manager when required.
About you You don’t necessarily need previous mobile speed camera experience. You may have developed your skills in transport, logistics, fleet management, field services, enforcement, roadside operations or another environment where safety, procedures and independent decision-making are essential.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Experience in a field-based, operational or mobile role, with a strong understanding of safety and compliance.
- Experience supporting, mentoring or training colleagues, or the confidence and aptitude to develop these skills.
- A strong safety mindset and the ability to identify hazards, assess risks and follow established procedures.
- Confidence using technology, mobile applications, tablets and computer-based systems. You must be comfortable learning and using multiple operational apps.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging members of the public.
- Sound judgement, initiative and the ability to work independently without constant supervision.
- Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to adapt when operational plans change.
- A willingness to learn technical equipment and follow detailed operating procedures.
- A full Australian driver’s licence and a strong driving history.
Experience in mobile speed camera operations, enforcement,
fleet or vehicle operations, transport, logistics, field service delivery or a similar environment will be highly regarded.
We’re looking for someone who is dependable, composed under pressure, comfortable with technology and genuinely committed to safety. You’ll take ownership of your work, lead by example and be motivated to help others succeed.
