Signature Staff is recruiting a hands-on Duty Manager for our client, a country tavern under new ownership in the Tablelands region of Far North Queensland.

About the Employer
Our client operates a country tavern serving the local community and visitors to the region. The owners are looking for an experienced and reliable Duty Manager who can take responsibility for each shift, support the team and help create a welcoming experience for customers.

- Full-time position with a salary of $95,000 per annum + super.
- 45 hours per week, including weekends.
- Two days off during the week.
- Temporary accommodation available for $200 per week, including electricity and internet.

The temporary accommodation is a single motel-style room with a private bathroom, basic kitchenette and access to a shared laundry. It is available for the first few weeks while you arrange your own longer-term accommodation. Unfortunately, pets cannot be accommodated.

About the Role
As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth running of the tavern during your shift. You'll lead by example, support your team and jump in wherever you're needed.
Your duties will include:

- Opening and closing the tavern independently.
- Supervising staff, allocating duties and managing breaks during the shift.
- Providing friendly customer service and resolving complaints and operational issues.
- Working behind the bar, preparing coffees and cocktails, changing kegs and cleaning beer lines.
- Operating POS and EFTPOS systems, preparing floats and balancing tills.
- Assisting with Keno and ATM operations, including restocking notes.




- Coordinating with the kitchen to keep meal service running smoothly.
- Receiving deliveries, restocking and maintaining a clean and organised venue.
- Training and guiding staff and ensuring daily tasks are completed.
- Driving the automatic courtesy car when required.
- Prepare staff rosters and place alcohol orders, with both reviewed by management.

About You
You're a practical, hands-on leader who can work independently and stay calm during busy service periods. You take responsibility, support your team and don't need to be told when something needs doing.
To be successful, you will need:

- Previous experience in an Australian tavern, ideally as a Duty Manager or supervisor.
- Current RMLV, RSA and RSG certifications.
- A current First Aid certificate and open driver's licence.
- Keno experience, including handling cash and restocking ATM notes.
- Barista skills and experience preparing cocktails and mixed drinks.
- Confidence handling cash, balancing tills and using POS systems.
- Strong communication, customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Availability to work weekends, with flexibility for events and public holidays.
- The successful applicant will be required to complete a police check before commencing employment.
- Australian permanent residency or other unrestricted, ongoing Australian working rights.

Hospitality qualifications or supervisory training are valued, although candidates with substantial relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
