Launch your career in Positive Behaviour Support with The Centre for Positive Behaviour Support.
Join one of Australia’s leading Positive Behaviour Support organisations, recognised as the 2024 Most Outstanding Positive Behaviour Support Provider Worldwide and the first Centre of Excellence for the IABA Research and Education Foundation.
Our Entry-Level Practitioner Programme is designed for graduates and those with transferable experience who are passionate about supporting people with disability and ready to build a meaningful, long-term career in Behaviour Support.
With structured training, dedicated mentoring, weekly supervision and hands-on experience, you’ll be supported to develop the skills, confidence and capability to become a successful Behaviour Support Practitioner.
About the role
This isn’t your typical entry-level BSP role. Rather than stepping straight into independently managing a full caseload, you’ll work closely with experienced Senior Behaviour Support Practitioners while focusing on learning, development and competency building.
Through structured onboarding, training and ongoing supervision, you’ll gradually build your clinical capability and confidence, with support every step of the way.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Undertaking extensive training in Multi Element Behaviour Support and Behaviour Science
- Support children and adults with disability to achieve meaningful outcomes.
- Shadow experienced practitioners with their current caseloads.
- Assist with implementing Positive Behaviour Support plans.
- Participate in assessments and information gathering.
- Learn how to develop behaviour support plans and recommendations.
- Work directly with participants,
families, support workers, schools and other stakeholders.
- Collect and analyse data to monitor progress.
- Develop the practical skills required to become an independent Behaviour Support Practitioner.
Why Choose CPBS?
At CPBS you'll have:
- Structured Entry-Level Practitioner Programme designed to accelerate your development
- Dedicated mentor and supervisor from day one
- Receive weekly clinical and operational supervision for your first 6 months
- Clear pathway to becoming an independent Behaviour Support Practitioner
- Flexible hybrid working arrangements
- Access to approximately 80 hours of evidence-based, structured learning
- Opportunity to build a long-term career within a growing national organisation
Desired Skills and Experience
We're Looking for People Who:
- Hold a relevant undergraduate degree or are prepared to enrol in postgraduate ABA studies
- Are passionate about improving the lives of people with disability
- Are motivated to learn and develop professionally
- Demonstrate solid communication and relationship-building skills
- Are organised, reliable and accountable
- Hold or can obtain a NDIS Practitioner ID, NDIS Workers Screening Check and Working with Children Check
- Hold or be able to obtain a valid Canberra Driver Licence and have access to your own vehicle, as travel to participants is required
