World Imex Pty Ltd, trading as World Imex, is a Melbourne-based import and trading business dealing in industrial and recyclable materials, including rubber, plastic, aluminium ingots and copper cathodes. The business is involved in sourcing and distributing materials through supplier and customer trading arrangements, with activities requiring coordination of product availability, purchasing, storage arrangements and the movement of goods.

About the Role

World Imex is seeking an experienced Supply and Distribution Manager to plan, organise, manage and monitor the supply, storage and distribution of materials handled by the business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing supply and distribution arrangements, coordinating supplier and customer requirements, monitoring stock availability, overseeing freight and delivery arrangements, and controlling associated costs.

The position will be involved in managing supply chain activities through external suppliers, freight providers and other service providers, without assuming the existence of an established internal warehouse or logistics team.

Salary: $90,000 to $100,000 per annum plus Superannuation

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, implement and monitor supply, storage and distribution plans for the industrial and recyclable materials traded by World Imex, ensuring arrangements meet customer requirements and business objectives.
- Plan material purchasing and supply requirements by reviewing customer orders, supplier availability, expected demand and delivery commitments to maintain appropriate product availability while controlling costs.
- Negotiate and coordinate commercial arrangements with material suppliers, freight providers and other service providers concerning pricing, product specifications, delivery schedules and service requirements.
- Establish and monitor inventory control procedures, including stock availability, quantities,



storage arrangements and replenishment requirements, to minimise shortages, excess stock and unnecessary holding costs.
- Oversee the movement of materials from suppliers through storage or handling arrangements to customers, ensuring appropriate coordination of dispatch, transportation and delivery.
- Manage freight and distribution arrangements for materials such as rubber, plastic, aluminium ingots and copper cathodes, considering shipment quantities, handling requirements, transport costs and delivery timeframes.
- Review supplier and freight provider performance against agreed quality, cost and delivery requirements, and implement improvements where necessary.
- Oversee the maintenance of accurate purchasing, inventory, dispatch and distribution records, including material quantities, transaction details, delivery documentation and stock movements.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers and transport providers to coordinate order fulfilment, confirm delivery requirements and resolve supply shortages, shipment delays and distribution-related issues.
- Monitor purchasing, storage and freight expenditure, assess supply chain costs and recommend improvements to distribution efficiency and overall operating expenditure.
- Establish and review procedures for material handling, storage coordination and dispatch documentation, ensuring relevant product requirements and applicable safety procedures are addressed.
- Prepare supply and distribution performance reports for the Director, including material availability, outstanding orders, delivery performance, supplier issues, inventory movements and opportunities for operational improvement.

Candidate Requirements





- Relevant Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management, International Business or a closely related discipline, or substantial relevant experience consistent with the occupation's skill requirements.
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in supply and distribution management, supply chain operations or a comparable role involving responsibility for purchasing, inventory and logistics activities.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and manage supply and distribution activities within an import, trading, wholesale or distribution business.
- Experience coordinating supplier relationships, commercial purchasing arrangements, freight providers and customer delivery requirements.
- Solid understanding of inventory planning, stock control, material movements and distribution cost management.
- Ability to negotiate supplier and logistics arrangements and monitor performance against quality, cost and delivery requirements.
- Experience in industrial materials, recyclable commodities, metals, plastics or related trading activities will be highly regarded.
- Familiarity with import and export documentation, freight coordination and international trading procedures will be advantageous.
- Ability to maintain accurate supply, purchasing, inventory and distribution records and prepare reports for management.
- Strong analytical, commercial decision-making, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple suppliers, customers and external service providers.
- Ability to work independently, manage operational priorities
