The Role

We're looking for an experienced Project Officer to support the project manager and deputy project manager in managing a software integration stream in Canberra. The work involves managing Defence stakeholders and the system integrator whose role is to integrate software into Defence networks.

You’ll prepare presentations, briefs and submissions, keep schedules and business processes up to date, and work within a matrixed, integrated team. If required, you’ll lead a small multi-disciplinary team and set its work priorities.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the project manager and deputy project manager in managing an integration stream, working with Defence stakeholders and the system integrator
- Develop presentations, briefs, correspondence, reports and submissions for board and committee consideration
- Develop and maintain business processes that support effective project management and governance
- Develop and update project schedules using MS Project
- Lead a small multi-disciplinary team and set work priorities, if required
- Undertake quality assurance activities on an ad hoc basis

Required

- Prior experience working in a Defence acquisition project




- Prior experience working within a project or program management office
- Experience using project management methodologies such as PMBOK, PRINCE2 and/or Agile
- Understanding of the One Defence Capability System
- Proficiency in MS Project, PowerPoint and Word
- Advanced technical writing skills
- Ability to analyse, plan, execute and evaluate work to time, cost and quality targets while assessing risk
- Experience working in the private sector or other Defence environments highly regarded
