Pay Rate: Up to $83 per hour, plus a Christmas bonus of up to $1,000

About the Organisation

A public hospital in Tennant Creek, in remote Northern Territory, is seeking an experienced Emergency Registered Nurse to support its Emergency Department over the coming months. The hospital provides essential acute care to a large remote catchment, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the region.

About the Role

Working within a small, close-knit ED team, you will provide emergency nursing care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute and complex conditions. The remote setting means you will often be managing high-acuity presentations with limited on-site resources, so robust clinical judgement and confidence working autonomously are essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Triage and assess patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Provide emergency nursing care across resus, acute and general ED presentations.
- Initiate and manage Advanced Life Support and resuscitation.
- Manage patients requiring Non-Invasive Ventilation.
- Support stabilisation and preparation of patients for retrieval and transfer.
- Work collaboratively with medical officers and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with hospital policies and standards.




- Deliver culturally safe care to patients, families and communities.

Essential Requirements

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- At least 3 years’ acute Emergency Department experience.
- Current Triage certification (certificate required).
- Competent in Resus and Advanced Life Support.
- Competent in Non-Invasive Ventilation.
- An understanding of, or willingness to work within, a remote hospital context.
- Diphtheria vaccination (Boostrix/Adacel) within the last 5 years, or willingness to arrange vaccination before commencement.

Desirable Experience

- Previous remote or rural ED experience.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Experience preparing patients for aeromedical retrieval.
