Design Manager Electrical working critical infrastructure project

This is a unique opportunity to join a specialist engineering and construction business delivering complex mission-critical infrastructure projects across the Asia-Pacific region. With a strong pipeline of hyperscale and colocation data centre developments, the business is seeking an experienced Design Manager to provide technical leadership and support across international operations, including significant involvement with project teams based in India.
Your new role
As Design Manager, you will play a key role in leading the electrical design management function across multiple data centre projects. Working closely with local and international stakeholders, you will oversee design coordination, manage consultants, drive technical excellence, and ensure projects are delivered in line with client requirements, programme, and budget expectations.The role will require regular travel to India and the flexibility to work on a roster basis, spending periods onsite supporting project delivery teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the electrical design process from concept through to delivery
- Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants
- Providing technical leadership across mission-critical data centre projects
- Reviewing and approving design documentation, specifications, and technical submissions
- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, codes, and project requirements
- Supporting project teams through design challenges and value engineering initiatives
- Collaborating with global stakeholders to achieve project outcomes
- Travelling regularly to India to provide onsite support and leadership
What you'll need to succeed
Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related disciplineDemonstrated experience as a Design Manager, Lead Electrical Engineer, or similar roleExtensive data centre project experience is essentialStrong understanding of mission-critical electrical systems, including HV/LV distribution, backup power, UPS systems, and associated infrastructureExperience managing consultants and coordinating multidisciplinary design teamsExcellent stakeholder management and communication skillsA willingness and ability to travel internationally on a frequent and rostered basisExperience working across geographically dispersed teams will be highly regardedWhat you'll get in return
