$130,000 plus superannuation | Flexible 38-hour week | Approximately two extra weeks of paid time off
Lead a 50-place early childhood service with approximately two additional weeks of paid time off each year, flexibility in how you structure your working week, and dedicated administrative and educational leadership support.
You will take over following the planned retirement of a long-serving Director, with an established team and longstanding relationships with local families.
What your working week offers
The service closes for Jewish holidays, providing approximately 1-3 additional weeks of paid time off each year on average, depending on how the calendar falls. This is in addition to your annual leave entitlement and Australian paid public holidays.
You will work 38 hours per week, with flexibility in how those hours are structured while maintaining the visibility and availability the Director role requires. The service also closes early on Fridays.
A full-time administrator manages day-to-day administration, while an established Educational Leader retains responsibility for curriculum and pedagogical leadership. You will work closely with both, focusing on service operations, staffing, compliance and relationships with families.
Staffing is maintained above minimum ratio requirements.
The service you will lead
Based on Sydney's North Shore, this Exceeding-rated, community-managed, not-for-profit service welcomes children, families and educators from a range of backgrounds.
Its Jewish cultural identity, calendar and community expectations shape how the service operates. You will bring genuine respect for that identity and an approach that helps children, families and educators feel welcome and valued.
The service has longstanding family relationships and is co-located with an outside school hours care program.
Your role
As Centre Director, you will oversee day-to-day operations, manage rosters and staffing matters,
support team performance and maintain trusted relationships with families and the wider community.
You will work with organisational leadership and the service team to maintain protected, consistent and welcoming care. This includes interpreting changes to government policy and regulatory requirements, updating relevant policies and helping educators put those changes into practice.
The role requires someone who can make sound decisions independently, address difficult conversations with tact and follow through consistently.
What you will bring
You may be an experienced Centre Director or Service Manager seeking a different working structure. You may also be an accomplished Assistant Director or senior early childhood leader ready to take responsibility for an entire service.
You will need:
- Strong knowledge of early childhood regulation, compliance and service operations, with demonstrated experience leading teams.
- Confidence managing rosters, staffing matters and workplace performance.
- An approved early childhood qualification, or another relevant qualification combined with substantial early childhood sector leadership experience.
- Clear, considered communication with educators and families, and respect for the service's cultural identity and community expectations.
- Eligibility and willingness to act as Nominated Supervisor and Responsible Person, together with a current Working with Children Check and required child protection and first aid credentials, or the ability to obtain them before commencement.
Your ability to lead a regulated early childhood service safely and consistently—and help the people around you do their work well—will be central to your success.
