With a track record of growth and achievement, the organisation is now 300 employees strong and poised for an exciting new era of change to position itself to better support the ongoing prosperity of all Anangu.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a long established and well respected Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation, whose work is guided by Anangu women's voices, cultural knowledge and priorities.

NPY Women's Council is seeking a CEO who can work respectfully with Directors and members, lead a capable workforce, and translate strategic direction into effective services and sustainable organisational performance.

The CEO will build a strong relationship of trust with the Directors, listen to their priorities, and ensure their decisions are carried through into the organisations' work. Success requires respect for cultural authority, clear communication, and a willingness to learn from members and communities.

Supported by a highly skilled and talented Executive team, the CEO key responsibilities include:

Providing strategic leadership and translating the Board’s direction into explicit organisational priorities and actions

Building a positive, respectful and accountable workplace culture through empathetic and consistent leadership

Building and maintaining strong relationships with members, communities, funders and other stakeholders

Ensuring sound governance, effective risk management and responsible management of financial, human and physical resources

Advocating for the needs and rights of Anangu women.

Demonstrated success in leading a community-controlled organisation or a similarly complex not-for-profit organisation is essential. A strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities involved in delivering services across remote communities will be critical to success.

A calm, empowering and adaptable leader, you will bring the ability to balance competing priorities, support and develop leaders, manage risk, and ensure the delivery of essential services. Working alongside the Board, you will represent the organisation and strengthen its relationships and advocacy.

This role is based in Alice Springs and requires regular travel to remote communities across the NPY region, Including overnight stays

Aboriginal women applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for this position, and it is an equal opportunity measure under s8 of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and s57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT).
