About Queen Repairs

Queen Repairs is a specialist repair business focused on gaming consoles, computers, laptops, smartphones and consumer hardware.

We are looking for a Gaming Hardware Technician / Sales Assistant who combines practical hardware repair skills with a genuine passion for gaming.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with hardware, diagnosing problems, repairing computers and consoles, and talking to customers about gaming, PCs, consoles and hardware.

You don't need to be an IT expert or have a university degree. Practical experience, problem-solving ability and genuine knowledge of gaming hardware are much more important.

About the Role

This is a hands-on hardware repair and customer-facing role.

The main focus will be diagnosing and repairing computers, gaming consoles and other hardware, while also assisting customers in the shop.

Our customers often want advice about their console, PC, components or repair. We want them to feel they are speaking to someone who actually understands the hardware and gaming, rather than someone who is simply following a script.

The successful candidate may also occasionally be required to assist with general store responsibilities and operate the shop independently.

Additional training can be provided depending on your existing experience and technical ability.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose and repair desktop computers, laptops and gaming consoles.
- Troubleshoot hardware faults and identify defective components.
- Replace computer and console components where required.
- Diagnose issues involving motherboards, power supplies, storage, RAM, GPUs, CPUs, cooling systems and other hardware.
- Perform console hardware repairs and component replacements.
- Test and verify hardware repairs before returning devices to customers.
- Assist customers with repair enquiries and provide clear, honest advice.
- Discuss gaming consoles, PC hardware, components and games with customers.
- Explain hardware problems and repair options in a way customers can easily understand.

- Process repair jobs and maintain accurate job records.
- Keep the workshop and store organised.
- Assist with general sales and customer service.
- Occasionally open, close and manage the store when required.

Requirements The following requirements are mandatory:

- Minimum 2 years of hands-on computer repair experience.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware and troubleshooting.
- Genuine passion and strong knowledge of gaming, gaming consoles and PC hardware.
- Comfortable discussing PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, PC gaming, components and gaming hardware with customers.
- Practical experience diagnosing and repairing hardware faults.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently when required.
- Valid Australian driver's licence.
- Own reliable vehicle.
- Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident.

Desirable Experience The following would be highly regarded, but are not essential:

- Gaming console repair, particularly PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch.
- Laptop and Mac repair.
- Smartphone and tablet hardware repair.
- Experience working with PC components and custom-built PCs.
- Motherboard or board-level repair.
- Soldering or microsoldering.
- Experience using a multimeter, hot air station or other repair equipment.
- Previous experience in a repair shop, computer store or customer-facing technical role.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is a gamer first and a hardware enthusiast at heart.

You don't need a degree, formal IT qualifications or years of corporate IT experience.

We would much rather have someone who has spent years building PCs, repairing computers, upgrading hardware, fixing consoles and playing games than someone with impressive qualifications but limited practical experience.

You should be the kind of person who enjoys figuring out why something isn't working, taking it apart, testing the hardware and finding the solution.

You should also be comfortable talking to customers about gaming and hardware.

If a customer walks in wanting to discuss a PS5, Xbox, gaming PC, GPU upgrade, SSD, controller or another piece of hardware, you should be able to have a genuine conversation with them and give them useful advice.

Employment Type

Part-time or full-time, depending on the candidate and availability.

Hours and employment conditions will be discussed during the interview.

What We Offer

- Competitive hourly rate based on experience and technical ability.
- Part-time or full-time opportunity.
- Additional training based on experience and ability.
- Hands-on work with gaming consoles, computers and other hardware.
- Opportunity to develop advanced hardware repair and motherboard repair skills.
- Practical workshop environment.
- Employee discount.
- Professional development and mentoring.

How to Apply

Please send your resume along with a short introduction about yourself.

Please include

- Your computer repair experience and how many years you have been repairing computers.
- The types of hardware you have worked on.
- Your experience with gaming console repairs, if any.
- Your knowledge of PC hardware and gaming.
- Any experience with motherboard repair, soldering or component-level repair.
- Why you would be a valuable fit for Queen Repairs.

Please note: This is an in-person position. Applicants must have at least 2 years of hands-on computer repair experience, a valid Australian driver's licence, access to a reliable vehicle, and be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident. Work Location: Carlton, In person
