VAE Group
Queensland
VAE Group is one of Australasia's largest commercial HVAC solutions companies with over 400 employees across 12 office locations in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
HSE Advisors: if you are looking for a role offering the opportunity to continue to build a strong safety culture in the Construction and Service Maintenance areas, and working with managers and font line staff, this VAE opportunity could be for you.
You will be supporting VAE Group’s Construction and Service across Queensland and Darwin branches. You will travel to branch offices, construction and service sites to help identify risks, agree on practical controls, and support managers to improve local ownership of safety outcomes.
The good news: You could be a tradie who has HSE responsibilities, and you want your next role to be in a large, stable company offering autonomy and variety where your trade knowledge will be highly respected.
Your day to day looks like:
- Partner with project, site, service and branch managers to identify HSE risks, agree practical controls and strengthen their ownership of safety outcomes
- Conducting site inspections, safety audits, risk assessments, SWMS/secure work procedures, incident investigations and supporting corrective actions
- Contributing to building the safety tools and systems and to the communication of safety through toolbox talks, safety training and VAE’s WHS Committee
- Maintain accurate HSE records and actions using business systems, including Salesforce, Breadcrumb and SharePoint, and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement
The VAE Experience
- Company phone and laptop
- Annual performance and pay reviews
- Employee recognition through our ‘Bleed Orange’ Awards
- Professional Development opportunities
- VAE-exclusive employee discounts, supporting you with your groceries, birthday and Christmas presents, and shopping, including Travel, Electronics, Retail, Dining and more; discounted health insurance and financial wellbeing programs
- Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) for you and your immediate family
About You
You are looking for a team that respects your experience and a company that provides you with the right tools to succeed and thrive in your role. You want to contribute to continuous improvement and projects, and you want to work with a manager that welcomes your capability to work autonomously.
You will bring
- Experience in an HSE role where you were required to independently conduct and develop site inspections, safety audits, risk assessments, SWMS, and lead investigations (ICAM Training highly advantageous!)
- Exceptional knowledge of Australian WHS legislation
- Experience applying HSE requirements and ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 frameworks through VAE’s IMS
- A manager-led mindset where you coach and support leaders to take responsibility for safety decisions and outcomes
- The ability to build credible, approachable relationships with managers,
workers and other internal and external stakeholders
- The confidence to challenge practices and promote continuous improvement
- The right to live and work in Australia
Highly Advantageous
- A trade background in HVAC, Mechanical Plumbing, Electrical and Sheet Metal Work
- Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS
- ICAM certification
- Previous employment in construction, mining, service and maintenance, manufacturing, mechanical or automotive industries
