About The Company

Kapitol is one of Australia’s leading builders, delivering complex projects through a combination of innovation, technology and a commitment to high-quality project outcomes. The company’s Critical Infrastructure team has established a strong reputation for delivering large-scale data centre projects and mission-critical environments across Australia. Kapitol continues to challenge traditional construction approaches and build its national project portfolio across multiple sectors and regions.

About The Role

Kapitol is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the next phase of a major data centre fit-out project in Darwin. Offered as a 12-month contract aligned with project requirements, this chance involves working in a live, mission-critical environment where safety, coordination and delivery standards are essential.

You will take overall responsibility for leading and coordinating the project through to completion. The work includes complex electrical, mechanical, fire and controls infrastructure, heavy plant installation and highly coordinated construction activities. You will work closely with the client, consultants, subcontractors and Kapitol’s specialist delivery teams to achieve programme, commercial, quality and safety objectives.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a Project Manager with strong client management skills, commercial judgement and the ability to guide a high-performing team through technically demanding work. The position is based in Darwin and may suit local candidates or construction professionals open to relocating for the duration of the project.

Qualifications The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience delivering commercial construction projects as a Project Manager, ideally in a Tier 1, Tier 2 or equivalent construction environment. You will bring strong commercial and financial management capability, effective stakeholder management skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline are required. Experience delivering projects with substantial building services, infrastructure or mission-critical components will be valuable. Backgrounds in data centres, industrial, health, defence, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing or similarly complex environments will be highly regarded. Experience working in live operating or mission-critical settings is also advantageous.

You should be confident leading project teams, consultants and subcontractors, managing client relationships and coordinating complex construction activities. Clear communication, sound decision-making and the ability to maintain focus on safety, quality, programme and cost are important to success in this role.

Responsibilities

Lead the overall planning, coordination and delivery of the data centre fit-out project through to completion. Manage programme, commercial performance,

quality and safety, identifying risks and addressing delivery challenges in a timely and practical manner.

Coordinate the work of consultants, subcontractors and internal delivery teams, with particular attention to the integration of electrical, mechanical, fire and controls infrastructure, heavy plant installation and associated construction activities. Maintain effective communication with the client and project stakeholders, provide explicit updates, and support timely decisions on project matters. Promote a collaborative, accountable team environment and ensure activities are carefully planned for the requirements of a live mission-critical site.

Benefits

Contribute to a high-profile critical infrastructure project and gain valuable experience in Australia’s expanding data centre sector. Work alongside a collaborative project team and specialists in mission-critical construction, while contributing to a business recognised for innovation and technology in project delivery. The role also offers exposure to technically complex work and the potential to pursue future opportunities across Kapitol’s growing national project portfolio, subject to business requirements and available roles.

Equal Opportunity

Kapitol is committed to providing a fair and inclusive recruitment process. Applicants will be considered on their skills, experience and ability to meet the requirements of the role. Candidates from diverse backgrounds who are interested in contributing to complex construction and critical infrastructure projects are encouraged to apply.
