Our client is an award-winning organisation in their field. They're looking for a Senior Applications and Database Administrator to join their national IT team. The Senior Applications and Database Administrator is responsible for the administration, performance, and continuous improvement of the organisation's core business applications and database environments. This role combines advanced technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement, acting as a senior escalation point for application and database issues while driving system optimisation, reporting, and business process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, maintain and optimise enterprise applications and database environments, ensuring system reliability, performance and security.
- Perform database administration, including backups, performance tuning, troubleshooting, upgrades, patching and migrations across SQL Server and other database platforms.
- Develop, maintain and optimise SQL queries, scripts, integrations and automation solutions to improve business processes and operational efficiency.
- Design and maintain reporting and analytics solutions using Power BI, SSRS, Crystal Reports and Microsoft Access, including data modelling, transformations and reporting automation.
- Develop and support applications, APIs and data integrations, leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Azure services and up-to-date development practices.
- Contribute to system implementations, upgrades and IT projects, including testing, deployment, change management and post-implementation support.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, automation and emerging technologies to enhance business systems and service delivery.
- Provide after-hours support when required for critical incidents, maintenance and project activities.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in application and database administration, with advanced Microsoft SQL Server expertise and exposure to Pervasive and MS Access.
- Strong programming and scripting skills across SQL, PowerShell, Python, PHP, C# and ASP.NET.
- Hands-on experience developing Power BI solutions, including data modelling, DAX, Power Query, security and Power BI Service administration, alongside SSRS and Crystal Reports.
- Proven application development and integration experience, including REST APIs, webhooks, automation, Git, testing and deployment practices.
- Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent qualification (Certificate IV or higher).
