Freelance Robotics Engineer / SpecialistGlobal Robotists Network (GRN) | ROBOTIST

About the opportunity

ROBOTIST is building the Global Robotists Network (GRN), a selected network of independent robotics engineers and specialists who can support projects across different markets. We work with organizations to integrate, deploy, customize, and support robots in real-world settings.

As a GRN member, you may be invited to join projects that match your technical expertise, location, and availability. Work is agreed project by project. This is an independent freelance prospect, not a full-time employment position.

What success looks like

You turn a defined robotics challenge into a dependable result: a working integration, a successful deployment, a resolved technical issue, or a well-documented development handover. You communicate clearly with ROBOTIST and other project specialists, meet agreed milestones, and help customers use and maintain the solution.

Responsibilities

- Assess technical requirements, robot capabilities, and project feasibility.
- Develop or adapt robotics software, integrations, and workflows for specific applications.
- Support robot setup, testing, commissioning, deployment, and troubleshooting, remotely or on site where relevant.
- Work with suitable technologies such as ROS/ROS 2, SDKs and APIs, computer vision, navigation, manipulation, simulation, or AI systems.
- Diagnose issues and recommend practical improvements to performance, reliability, and usability.

- Document your work and provide clear technical handovers to ROBOTIST, customers, or other specialists.
- Collaborate with an international team while managing your own agreed scope, deliverables, and deadlines.

Qualifications

- Hands-on experience building, integrating, deploying, or supporting robotic systems.
- Strong expertise in at least one relevant area, such as robotics software, hardware integration, perception, controls, autonomy, field deployment, or maintenance.
- Ability to solve practical problems and explain technical decisions clearly.
- A track record of delivering independent technical work reliably.
- Comfortable collaborating across teams, locations, and time zones.
- Relevant projects, research, professional experience, or a portfolio demonstrating your work. A specific degree is not required for every specialty.

How GRN works

GRN members are independent specialists. ROBOTIST matches suitable members with potential projects and coordinates the overall client engagement. You can review each opportunity before accepting it; the scope, schedule, deliverables, fees, and any on-site requirements are agreed separately for each project. Membership does not guarantee a set number of projects or hours.

To apply

Tell us your current city and country, your top 3–5 robotics specialties, the robot platforms or technologies you have worked with, and the languages you speak. Please include a CV, portfolio, GitHub profile, or examples of relevant projects where available.
