Job Brief

BlueGum Granny Flats builds granny flats across Sydney, and we’re hiring an experienced roofer to join our team. Most of the work is installing roofs on new builds: mainly Colorbond metal roofs (skillion or gable), with some tiled roofs to match the main house.

Responsibilities – Roofer

- Install Colorbond roof sheeting, flashings, ridge and barge capping on current granny flats
- Install sarking or insulation blanket, and battens where required
- Install fascia, gutters and downpipes
- Lay tiled roofs where the design matches the main house
- Measure and set out each roof, and cut and fit materials on site
- Check deliveries against the roof order before you start
- Complete each roof on schedule so the next trades can start on time
- Attend warranty callouts: find leaks, fix flashings, gutters or sheeting, and report back to the project manager
- Set up edge protection and follow working-at-heights procedures
- Leave every roof watertight, neat and ready for handover
- Clean up offcuts and screws, and leave the site tidy
- Take before, after and completion photos for each job
- Fill in and submit SWMS and safety paperwork for each site

Requirements and Skills

- At least 2 years’ experience as a roofer on residential work
- Confident with roofing tools,



ladders and scaffolding
- Able to find and fix leaks and other defects
- Physically fit, comfortable at heights and able to work outdoors in all weather
- Strict about safety
- Reliable and on time, with good attention to detail on finishes
- Can work on your own and manage a roof from start to finish
- Roof plumbing qualification or apprenticeship is a plus
- Your own vehicle (a ute is preferred) for tools and ladders

Mandatory Requirements

- At least 2 years’ roofing experience
- White Card (Construction Induction)
- Valid NSW driver’s licence
- Working at Heights certificate
- Roofing qualification (preferred, not essential)
