? We’re Hiring | Senior Observability Engineer – Elastic Stack / Kibana

QIX Consulting Group is looking for an experienced Senior Observability Engineer to join a large-scale enterprise workplace in Sydney.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about application monitoring, log analytics and operational observability, with strong hands-on experience across Elastic Stack (ELK), Kibana and KQL.

You'll play a key role in transforming existing application logs into meaningful dashboards, actionable alerts and monitoring insights that improve application reliability and operational performance.

? What You'll Be Doing:

✅ Designing and developing Kibana dashboards, visualisations, saved searches and drill-down views.

✅ Building and optimising KQL queries for application monitoring, troubleshooting and security-related events.

✅ Configuring, testing and tuning alerting rules, thresholds and severity levels.

✅ Analysing application logs to identify failures, exceptions, transaction issues and root causes.

✅ Collaborating with Java development, DevOps, security and platform teams to enhance monitoring capabilities.

✅ Developing operational runbooks, documentation and knowledge-transfer materials.

?️ What We're Looking For:

- Strong hands-on experience with Kibana, Elasticsearch and ELK Stack.
- Advanced KQL skills,



including dashboard development, log analysis and alerting.
- Proven experience in Observability Engineering, Application Monitoring or Log Analytics.
- Experience analysing Java application logs, stack traces and application behaviour.
- Solid DevOps knowledge, including Linux/Unix, shell scripting and CI/CD practices.
- Experience designing and tuning alerts, managing false positives and improving monitoring effectiveness.
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.

⭐ Bonus Points For:

- Elastic alerting, rule management and incident workflow integrations.
- Azure Monitor, Microsoft Sentinel or cloud monitoring platforms.
- Experience in enterprise security monitoring and operational support environments.

? Important: This role focuses on leveraging logs already available within ELK to deliver effective monitoring and observability solutions. It is not primarily an ELK administration or log-ingestion role.
