The role

Most People & Culture roles ask you to administer. This one asks you to partner.

Gason is an Ararat manufacturer that has spent eighty years making things in Australia – from wood heaters and industrial fabrication to farm machinery – and keeping jobs local while doing it. Our people are the reason it works. We’re continuing to invest in our People & Culture function, and we want someone who will help us continue to build this critical support to the business.

You will partner with all areas of the business to deliver meaningful value in the People & Culture function. Managers will come to you for advice they can act on, and employees will trust you with the tough conversations. You’ll have the freedom to build on what we already have and make things better.

As part of a small team, you are the People & Culture function whilst working very closely with the Safety function and having some administrative support.

What you’ll get your hands on

- Be the go‑to person for managers and employees – giving practical advice that works in the real world
- Owning the employee lifecycle from the first interview to the farewell morning tea
- Handling employee relations, performance matters and investigations with fairness and good judgement
- Shaping the contracts,



position descriptions, policies and processes that keep a growing business on solid ground
- Driving the rhythm of the people year – remuneration reviews, engagement surveys, performance reviews and workforce planning
- Keeping our records accurate and our compliance with legislation and awards watertight
- Lifting capability by coordinating training and development that people actually want to attend
- Building a culture of communication and accountability that people are proud to be part of
- Working side by side with our Safety and Operations teams to make sure our people practices support the business

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to tick every box. We care more about how you think and how you show up.

- A qualification in Human Resources, People & Culture, Business Administration or similar (or you’re working towards one)
- Experience in a HR or People & Culture role – manufacturing, industrial or operational experience is a bonus
- A genuine passion for people and workplace culture
- Confidence to talk with anyone from the production floor to the executive team
- A practical, approachable and solutions‑focused approach to workplace matters
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities without dropping the detail
- Discretion and integrity with confidential information
- A solid grasp of employment legislation and modern awards (or the appetite to learn)
- The confidence to take ownership and turn ideas into action
