Mackay Base Hospital is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join the Medical G2 Ward on a contract basis from 2 November 2026 through 17 January 2027. This 11-week placement offers the opportunity to work across a 28-bed general medical ward (expandable to 30 beds) that specialises in oncology, cardiology, respiratory, renal, and acute general medicine. With three positions available at Grade 5, successful candidates will work up to 80 hours per fortnight on 8-hour shifts, bringing recent clinical experience and strong computer literacy to a busy, diverse patient cohort in regional Queensland.
- Work across multiple specialties including oncology, cardiology, respiratory, and renal medicine in a general medical setting
- 11-week contract placement with flexible rostering and up to 80 hours per fortnight
- Three positions available at Grade 5, supporting a 28-bed ward with scope for expansion
Preferred Requirements
- Minimum two years of recent clinical nursing experience
- Positive computer literacy and confidence with electronic systems in a healthcare setting
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team across general medical, oncology, cardiology, respiratory, and renal specialties
- Sound clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritise care in a busy ward environment
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted licence
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent, with current AHPRA registration
- Familiarity with ieMR (integrated electronic Medical Record) systems or similar electronic health records
- Previous experience working within Queensland Health or Mackay Hospital and Health Service
