Job Description

Target Business Services Position: Full Time – Permanent, 38 hours per week Location: Rochedale, Brisbane, Queensland (QLD 4123) Salary: $80,000 per annum plus 12% Superannuation Our client, D.T LUU & T.H TRAN, trading as LUU CONCRETE & TILE, is an established family partnership operating since 1998 and providing concreting, tiling, block and retaining wall, rendering, artificial turf and landscaping services. The business undertakes projects primarily across the Brisbane metropolitan area, with additional work on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

LUU CONCRETE & TILE is seeking a skilled and reliable Wall and Floor Tiler to undertake tiling work across its residential and other construction projects. The successful applicant will be responsible for completing the full tiling process, from interpreting plans and setting out surfaces to preparing substrates, installing tiles, grouting and completing final finishes. The role requires precision, sound technical knowledge and the ability to complete work in accordance with project specifications, relevant Australian Standards and manufacturer requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

- Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling or a relevant qualification in a related field.
- Minimum one year of full time relevant work experience as a Wall and Floor Tiler.
- Ability to read plans and specifications and carry out accurate measurements and set-out.
- Sound knowledge of surface preparation, adhesives, grouts, screeds and wet-area tiling requirements.
- Safe and competent use of tiling hand tools, power tools and tile-cutting equipment.

What you will be responsible for:





- Reading plans, specifications and client instructions to determine tile layouts, levels, installation requirements and material quantities.
- Measuring work areas and marking reference lines to establish accurate tile layouts and achieve balanced finishes with minimal unnecessary cuts.
- Removing existing tiles and adhesive, repairing and levelling substrates, and preparing surfaces for tiling, including laying screeds to the required falls where necessary.
- Preparing and tiling bathrooms, laundries and other wet areas over appropriate waterproofing systems, maintaining correct falls towards floor wastes without damaging the waterproofing membrane.
- Selecting, mixing and applying suitable tile adhesives, mortar beds and other installation materials according to the tile type, substrate conditions and manufacturer instructions.
- Cutting and drilling tiles using appropriate equipment to achieve accurate finishes around edges, corners, pipes and fixtures.
- Installing wall and floor tiles to the required levels, alignment and spacing, ensuring tiles are level, plumb and consistent with the specified layout.
- Installing tile trims and movement joints where required by the project specifications and installation requirements.
- Applying grout and sealants to joints,



cleaning finished tiled surfaces and checking completed work for defects before project handover.
- Identifying and addressing installation issues, uneven surfaces or alignment discrepancies to maintain the required quality of workmanship.
- Maintaining tiling tools and equipment in safe working condition and using appropriate personal protective equipment and dust-control measures when cutting or drilling tiles.
- Following workplace health and safety requirements, including applicable silica dust controls, and maintaining a clean and organised work area.
- Coordinating with other tradespeople and site personnel to ensure tiling activities are completed in accordance with project schedules and site requirements.

Skills, experience and attributes:

- Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications and client instructions.
- Sound practical knowledge of tile setting, substrate preparation, screeding, waterproofed wet areas, adhesives, grouting and finishing techniques.
- Competence in accurately measuring surfaces, setting out tile layouts and cutting tiles to precise dimensions.
- Ability to use tiling hand tools, power tools, wet saws, cutters and grinders safely and effectively.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety obligations, including safe work practices for tile cutting and silica dust control.
- Ability to work independently, manage assigned tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other tradespeople and site personnel.
