Job Description
We’re looking for a developing civil engineer to support the delivery of site infrastructure design packages across a range of projects. You’ll contribute to stormwater, earthworks and basic water/wastewater designs, coordinate with other disciplines, and build strong technical fundamentals under the guidance of senior engineers.
What you’ll be doing
- Perform specific and limited portions of broader civil/site infrastructure assignments under moderate supervision, to agreed budget and programme.
- Gather, interpret and correlate engineering data using established and well‑defined procedures.
- Work on detailed or routine design tasks involving calculations, modelling and relatively simple tests/checks.
- Support delivery of key infrastructure elements, including:
- Stormwater design (pit and pipe layouts, hydraulic checks, minor drainage design)
- Bulk earthworks support (grading plans, levels coordination, basic cut/fill inputs)
- Basic water and wastewater infrastructure (reticulation layouts, tie‑ins, design checks)
- WSUD support where required (e.g., contributing to concept layouts and design documentation).
- Propose practical approaches to recent problems, escalating early where needed and applying learnings from previous tasks.
- Identify discrepancies in calculations, drawings, models or inputs and raise them promptly for resolution.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines and external stakeholders on interfaces (services coordination, site constraints, constructability).
- Provide day-to-day support and informal guidance to graduates/entry-level engineers (as appropriate).
Qualifications
- 2–5 years’ post‑graduate experience in civil/site infrastructure design.
- Exposure to applying Austroads and local council/authority requirements (or a willingness to learn quickly).
- Developing competency in stormwater (pit and pipe) and familiarity with earthworks and basic water/wastewater design tasks.
- Interest in WSUD principles and how they integrate with stormwater solutions (a plus).
- Any exposure to Department of Defence projects is highly regarded, but not essential.
- Process‑driven and detail‑oriented, with a clear focus on quality, checking and well‑structured deliverables.
- A collaborative mindset, comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams and asking the right questions early.
Benefits
- Flexible work arrangements, including alternative start/finish times, job‑sharing and hybrid work options
- Purchase up to 6 weeks additional annual leave per year
- Swap public holidays – swap Easter or other holidays for ones that suit you better
- Continuous learning and growth - lunch and learns, professional development courses, financial study assistance, 5 days paid study leave, global career opportunities
