Job Title: Youth Outreach Coordinator

Location: Taree, NSW

Company Overview:
New Heights Youth Outreach is an outdoor adventure therapy organisation based on the mid north coast, with youth centres in both Port Macquarie and Taree. Our team provides one-on-one outreach and mentoring, weekly adventure therapy group programs, disability support and respite, and holiday programs and camps — serving disadvantaged, at-risk, and young people with disability aged 10–17 and 18–30.

About the Role:
I’m Leighton, Managing Director of New Heights Youth Outreach. I’m looking for the right person, the right leader, to come alongside us and help grow what we’ve been building over the last six years in Taree.

This role is hands-on — you’ll be delivering one-on-one outreach, mentoring, and facilitating group programs with young people through outdoor adventure activities in some amazing locations across Taree and the surrounding areas. You’ll also be coordinating and leading a small team — and that’s where 2 of our core values come in.

Our first is that our participants are our number one focus. We need someone who ensures that every young person in our care is having meaningful, intentional experiences, working towards their goals, and receiving support delivered within a therapeutic, trauma-informed and person-centred framework — while also feeling a genuine sense of belonging, value, and having lots of fun!

Our second is that our staff are our most valued asset. We believe that real connection and solid relationships are at the heart of everything we do — within the team and with the young people we serve. When staff feel genuinely valued and supported, that flows directly into the quality of support our participants receive. We need a leader who understands that and builds a culture around it.

There’s a real gap in Taree — a lot of young people are falling through the cracks and can’t access the kind of support we provide. I’m looking for someone who not only has the skills and experience to lead our current team, but who is passionate about working alongside me to find innovative and creative ways to reach and serve the young people in this community who need it most.

It’s a unique set of skills and experience I’m looking for — but if this sounds like you and it ignites that passion to make a difference in the lives of young people, please send through a cover letter and your resume. I’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver and oversee one-on-one outreach, mentoring, and group adventure therapy programs directly with young people

- Lead, support, and empower the Taree team — ensuring staff are equipped, motivated, and working within our values-led culture

- Oversee participant outcomes — ensuring the goals and needs of every young person in our care are being met

- Maintain regular communication with parents, support coordinators, caseworkers, and other key stakeholders

- Manage rosters, timesheets, and day-to-day administration for the Taree team

- Implement and maintain NHYO’s systems, processes, and operational standards across the Taree team

- Oversee and maintain the Taree youth centre and its day-to-day operations

- Build and maintain relationships with local organisations, community groups, schools, and families across the Manning Valley

- Connect with prospective participants — conducting meet and greets, onboarding current young people,

and matching them with the right workers and supports

- Liaise and communicate regularly with the Port Macquarie admin and leadership team, particularly around holiday programs, rostering, billing, and problem solving

Ideal Candidate:

- Qualifications and/or experience in community services, social work, youth work, outdoor leadership or related fields.

- Passion for the outdoors and adventure-based therapy.

- Experience in managing complex needs and behaviours in young people.

- Experience in program development and community engagement.

- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

- Experience leading, managing and growing a values-led team.

- Local knowledge, networks and resources in the Taree area.

- First Aid and CPR certification

- Working With Children Check, Police Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check.

Why Join Us?

- An opportunity to lead and grow a purposeful and values driven team.

- Make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people and the local Taree community.

- Work you're passionate about - the outdoors, in the community, the challenge of young people with complex needs, and the personal growth in leadership.

- Flexible schedule around your own lifestyle, with options for part time up to full time for the right person.

Application Process:
If you feel you’re the right person for this role — with the skills and experience to lead our Taree team, and a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of young people — we’d love to hear from you. Please submit your cover letter and resume to ••••@youthoutreach.com.au

Closing date is 1/12/2026

If you’re passionate about this type of work and keen to be part of our team, but don’t quite feel ready for the coordinator role, we’d still love to hear from you — we’re also looking for Outreach Support Workers!
