Digital Public Relations Specialist
Hi there! We’re Dilate, a Perth based Digital Marketing agency with a diverse, impressive client list and a world-class team.
It’s our mission to do great marketing, for great businesses, ethically and in a way that benefits us all. We want our clients to win, their customers to win, and our employees to win.
We’re on the hunt for a Digital PR Specialist to join our team in Perth.
We’re after someone who doesn’t just pitch stories—but finds them. Someone with the news sense to spot an angle, the curiosity to dig into the data behind it, and the confidence to build real relationships with journalists and editors. If you’re looking for the next step in your career with a team that values your ideas, input and enthusiasm, this could be it.
So, the Job
As a Digital PR Specialist at Dilate, you’ll build our clients’ visibility, authority and search performance through earned media across three core areas: story ideation and production, media relations and outreach, and reporting and collaboration. You’ll work closely with our Digital Strategists and our Organic Search Specialists, copywriter and design teams to create newsworthy campaigns and secure quality coverage and backlinks that support our clients’ organic search and brand goals.
Story ideation and production
- Generate creative and data-led campaign ideas that are newsworthy and aligned with clients’ organic and brand objectives.
- Source and analyse data, surveys and client insights to build stories that stand up to a journalist’s questions.
- Interview clients, spokespeople and subject-matter experts to uncover angles, expert commentary and assets.
- Produce press releases, story angles and supporting assets,
working with our designers where visuals are needed.
- Stay across media trends, news cycles and digital PR best practice to keep improving results.
Media relations and outreach
- Build and maintain solid relationships with journalists, editors, bloggers and publishers across national, trade and regional media.
- Research and develop targeted media lists for each client and campaign.
- Pitch press releases, story angles and expert commentary tailored to each publication.
- Respond quickly to reactive media opportunities and journalist requests.
- Follow up professionally and manage media enquiries on behalf of clients.
Reporting and collaboration
- Track, measure and report on coverage, including links, publication authority, referral traffic and brand mentions.
- Provide clear updates and insights to Digital Strategists and clients on campaign progress and results.
- Work closely with our organic search, copywriter and design teams so digital PR supports wider organic strategies.
- Share knowledge and contribute to a collaborative learning environment across the team.
About you
- Has a proven background in digital PR, public relations, outreach or journalism, ideally in an agency environment.
- Has a demonstrated track record of securing quality coverage and backlinks.
- Brings excellent writing skills, with press releases,
pitches and story angles tailored to different publications.
- Understands digital PR best practice.
- Is a confident interviewer who can draw the story out of clients and experts.
- Generates creative, newsworthy ideas and uses data to tell compelling stories.
- Can manage multiple client campaigns at once.
- Is confident with PR and organic search tools, such as media databases, coverage monitoring and backlink analysis tools.
- Works well independently, but loves collaboration too.
- Has a passion for staying across the latest media, PR and digital marketing trends.
- Bonus points if you know how PR influences SEO, generative engine optimisation (GEO) and organic presence, or bring other PR skills such as reputation management and social monitoring.
- Is an Australian resident with full working rights, based in Perth, WA. This is not a remote role.
Why Dilate?
