We are a small business situated on the Southside of Brisbane. We are looking for animal collection officers for our team.
I apologise for the bluntness in this advertisement about what we do but I am being honest about what the job entails. I would not want any future employee/s to be confused with what we do and what is involved.
This family business is unique as we attend to the collection of animals (both living and deceased) predominately in the Brisbane catchment area. Every day is different and can range from being extremely busy to having little to no collections at any one time. We deal mainly with dog collections but also livestock and deceased animals of all kind.
What we are looking for in our Animal Collection employees is as follows:
- They are easy going and adaptable. Sometimes an employee may be on the North side of Brisbane and then attend to another collection at Karana downs. They must acknowledge that there is no days the same and our preference is an employee who can work under this situation. We cannot control what jobs we have to attend to, where they are or what they are. We just need to make sure they get done promptly and professionally.
- They must also be comfortable with seeing and handling deceased animals. Part of our contract is to collect deceased animals on the roads, or parkways or wherever they lay. Again, please excuse my bluntness but that is the job.
They must also acknowledge that animals may be not complete or seriously damaged/deformed. Unfortunately, we cannot control how they appear or smell like when we collect them. We are being upfront and honest with you as this is an integral part of the role and there would be no point sending someone who is not aware of what they will be dealing with.
- They must have a current driver's licence and ability to drive both a manual and automatic vehicle.
- They must be able to get a blue card and ability to get a police check as we require these for security access to the council buildings.
- They must also have the flexibility with their hours. We ideally would like someone to work every alternate weekend, but we will work with them to plan a work schedule that suits them.
We have some flexibility with the new employee/s to find working hours that suit our employee. Being a small family run business, we understand every family is different and we will work with what works for you.
