Beginner Japanese by Joyce is looking for friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Japanese Tutor to join our growing team in Brisbane!

We provide personalized Japanese language lessons for a wide range of learners, from children to adults, with a focus on making Japanese learning practical, engaging and enjoyable.

We welcome applications from tutors across Brisbane and surrounding areas. At present, we are particularly looking for tutors who are based on or willing to travel to Brisbane’s southside, with increased demand for in-person lessons in this area expected from November 2026.

Tutors from all other areas are also strongly encouraged to apply, as tutoring opportunities may become available across different locations depending on student demand.

About the Role

As a Japanese Tutor with Beginner Japanese by Joyce, you will provide personalized Japanese lessons based on each student’s level, goals and learning needs.

Our students have a variety of backgrounds and motivations for learning Japanese, so we are looking for tutors who can create a welcoming and supportive learning environment.

Your responsibilities may include:

- Delivering both in-person (Brisbane area) and online Japanese lessons
- Teaching students across different age groups, from children to adults
- Supporting speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary development
- Preparing and/or adapting lesson materials based on individual student needs
- Adjusting your teaching approach to different learning styles, abilities and goals
- Maintaining professional and friendly communication with students and the team
- Providing feedback on student learning and progress when required





Please note that tutors must be willing to provide both in-person and online lessons.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you:

- Have JLPT N2 or equivalent Japanese proficiency or above
- Have good English communication skills
- Are friendly, patient, reliable and approachable
- Are confident communicating with learners from different age groups and backgrounds
- Are willing to teach both in-person and online
- Can adapt your teaching and explanations to suit individual learners
- Have an interest in Japanese language education and helping others achieve their learning goals

Previous tutoring or teaching experience is preferred but not essential.

Native Japanese speakers and highly proficient non-native Japanese speakers are both welcome to apply.

A current Queensland Blue Card is preferred, as our students include children and teenagers.

Location

We welcome and encourage applications from tutors across Brisbane and surrounding areas.

We are currently particularly seeking tutors for Brisbane’s southside, with increased demand for in-person lessons expected from October/November 2026.

However, you do not need to live on the southside to apply. Tutors from other areas are strongly encouraged to apply, as opportunities may become available in different locations depending on student demand.





In-person lesson locations will vary depending on student bookings.

Availability & Hours

This is a flexible tutoring position, and hours will depend on student bookings. A fixed number of hours each week cannot be guaranteed.

We are particularly interested in tutors who have regular availability:

- After school on weekdays
- At least one weekend morning or afternoon
