- Diverse 6,000ha enterprise featuring irrigated cropping, dryland, and sheep.
- Key 2IC and Farm Hand positions within a supportive, progressive team.
- Attractive remuneration and work vehicle for both positions; housing for 2IC.
The Role
Spanning irrigated cereals, rice, dryland cropping, a commercial Dorper sheep flock and industrial hemp trials across Southern NSW and the Victorian Mallee, this dynamic enterprise offers an exceptional environment for agricultural career progression.
We are recruiting two capable, energetic agricultural professionals—a Second-in-Charge (2IC) and a Farm Hand. Both successful candidates will join a progressive, 6,000-hectare mixed-farming operation, working directly with farm owners and a dedicated full-time crew, contributing to all operational facets, machinery operation and livestock management.
The 2IC role presents an outstanding leadership prospect for a seasoned operator capable of taking ownership of daily workflow management, machinery operation and maintenance scheduling. In addition to broadacre sowing, spraying, spreading and harvest duties, the 2IC will play a central role in managing lateral move and flood irrigation systems for rice and cereal crops, will participate in livestock management and will assist in supervising the team during peak operational windows.
The Farm Hand role offers an enthusiastic worker with practical on-farm experience the opportunity to expand their skill set across the enterprise, including machinery operation, crop maintenance, and all core livestock husbandry tasks.
The Employer
Our clients are a progressive, family-owned business driven by a passion for modern agricultural innovation,
operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability. Operating across two primary hubs - the main irrigated property in Southern NSW and a dryland cropping property in the Victorian Mallee - the business maintains top-tier infrastructure, including S-series headers, John Deere equipment with GreenStar precision technology, a Patriot self-propelled sprayer and advanced lateral move irrigators.
Management of their 2500 ewe dorper flock includes side-by-side mustering, auto drafter operation in well-equipped sheep yards, lamb marking, scanning and flock classing.
Supported by a cohesive team of five full-time staff, specialised contractors and industry advisors, the owners foster an inclusive, safety-focused culture where employee input is valued, hard work is recognised, and professional development is encouraged.
The Offer
An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicants based on qualifications, technical skills and overall experience. For the 2IC position, a fully maintained work vehicle will be provided and an excellent four-bedroom family home is available on the NSW property.
Conveniently situated approximately 40 kilometres from Barham and 60 kilometres from the vibrant regional hub of Swan Hill, this location offers outstanding access to schools,
health services, shopping, sports clubs, and community amenities.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking self-motivated, honest, and reliable individuals who take pride in their work and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated on-farm experience in broadacre cropping, machinery operation, or livestock management, with a minimum of 5 years' experience required for the 2IC position.
- Proven capability or strong aptitude in machinery maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, and precision agriculture technology.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to schedule maintenance, prioritise tasks, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Practical experience or a keen willingness to learn irrigation management across lateral move and flood systems.
- Sound livestock husbandry skills and a genuine interest in commercial sheep production.
- A current Australian Driver's Licence is essential; holding a Heavy Combination (HC) or Multi Combination (MC) truck licence is highly advantageous.
- Flexibility to travel between the primary Southern NSW farm and the Victorian Mallee property during busy seasonal periods.
