Cabinetmaker / Joinery Installer — Full time

Farr Better Joinery Pty Ltd | Woolgoolga, Coffs Coast NSW
$81,016 per year ($41 per hour) + superannuation | 38-hour week | Overtime paid additionally

About the role

You’ll work closely with the owner and our small team, taking projects from drawings through manufacturing, assembly and installation. This is a hands-on role combining workshop work and on-site installation across custom kitchens, laundries, wardrobes, vanities and commercial joinery.

We’re looking for a capable cabinetmaker who produces quality work, thinks ahead and takes responsibility without needing constant supervision. We want someone who is looking for a long-term position and wants to grow with our growing business.

Key responsibilities

- Read and interpret joinery drawings accurately.
- Manufacture and assemble cabinets, fitting doors, drawers and hardware.
- Install joinery with accurate levelling, scribing and finishing.
- Plan your work, check measurements and identify issues before they become costly mistakes.
- Work independently and solve practical problems.
- Help guide our apprentice and set a strong example.
- Maintain a clean, organised workshop and safe work practices.
- Treat clients’ homes, tools, vehicles and materials with care.

About you

- A trade qualification in cabinetmaking or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience manufacturing and installing custom joinery.
- The ability to complete work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in the finished product.
- A current driver’s licence.
- Clear communication and a professional manner with clients and teammates.
- A desire for long-term employment and the opportunity to take on greater responsibility.
- Willingness and availability to work reasonable paid overtime when required to meet project deadlines.

Our expectations

Reliability, initiative, complete workmanship and a respectful attitude are essential. We have high standards and expect every team member to meet them consistently.

- Initiative: think ahead, plan your next steps and recognise what needs doing without waiting to be told. If you need constant direction for routine tasks, this role isn’t for you.
- Complete workmanship: finish each task properly, including adjustments, final checks and clean-up. Leaving half-finished work or loose ends for someone else to fix is not acceptable.
- Check your own work: verify measurements, assembly, alignment, hardware operation and finishes before calling a task complete. You are responsible for checking the quality of your work.
- Practical judgement: solve problems within your capabilities and raise anything requiring a decision early. Independent thinking and clear communication must work together.
- Follow-through: take ownership from start to finish. If something cannot be completed, communicate what remains outstanding and what is needed to finish it.
- Punctuality: arrive ready to start at the agreed time every day.
- Focus: keep personal phone use to designated breaks, except for emergencies.
- Accountability: own mistakes, communicate promptly and take responsibility for correcting your work.
- Respect: take direction professionally, respond constructively to feedback and treat everyone courteously.
- Care: use company tools, machinery, vehicles and clients’ property responsibly.
- Safety:

attend work fit for duty and follow safe work procedures.
- Consistency: maintain quality and productivity throughout the working day.
- Long-term commitment: we want someone who will build a future with Farr Better Joinery and take on greater responsibility as the business grows.
- Flexibility and overtime: be willing to work reasonable paid overtime when required to meet deadlines. Plan ahead, communicate your availability and help the team deliver on commitments to clients.

This position suits someone who thinks for themselves, checks their work and finishes the job properly. We’re looking for a committed team member who wants to grow with the business and understands that meeting deadlines sometimes requires flexibility beyond ordinary hours.
