Engineering Manager - Solar and Battery Design

About the Employer
Our client is an engineering and construction business working across transport, defence and major infrastructure. It combines project delivery expertise with a focus on collaboration, technical improvement and sustainable outcomes.

The Opportunity
Manage the design lifecycle for a utility-scale solar development integrated with AC battery storage. Primarily based in North Sydney with regular site visits, you will take multidisciplinary engineering from approximately 30% design maturity through issued-for-construction delivery.

Your Responsibilities
• Coordinate consultants and equipment manufacturers to deliver safe, compliant and constructable designs.
• Oversee electrical engineering for grid connections, substations, conversion equipment and battery integration.
• Lead design reviews, safety-in-design workshops and value engineering.
• Connect design teams with project management, procurement and construction to resolve technical interfaces.
• Maintain design quality and schedules and check national standards, grid codes and network connection obligations.

RequirementsSkills, Education and Requirements
• A bachelor degree in electrical engineering is essential.




• Experience managing complex designs from early concept or FEED through issued-for-construction packages.
• Extensive utility-scale solar and BESS delivery experience and understanding of construction and commissioning.
• Detailed expertise in HV infrastructure, electrical systems and renewable power engineering.
• Robust multidisciplinary leadership, consultant management, communication and technical problem solving.
• Current entitlement to live and work in the role location.
