We invite you to join us as we build a workplace where diversity thrives, inclusion is lived, and reconciliation is actively embraced.
About the role
The ICT Principal plays a key role in shaping and delivering AITSL's ICT strategy, ensuring our technology, systems and services support the organisation's priorities while remaining secure, reliable and responsive to changing needs.
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer and General Operations Manager, you'll provide strategic ICT advice and leadership across the organisation, oversee our managed service provider and other technology partners, and lead initiatives that strengthen cyber security, governance and operational performance.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll balance strategic thinking with practical delivery. One day you might be developing our ICT roadmap or advising on emerging technology opportunities, and the next you'll be working with service providers to improve system performance, strengthen security controls or resolve complex ICT challenges. You'll also work closely with business leaders and our Principal, Digital to ensure a coordinated approach to technology, infrastructure, security and the systems that support AITSL's work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the implementation and ongoing development of AITSL's ICT Strategy and roadmap, aligned with organisational priorities
- Overseeing the performance, security and continuous improvement of corporate ICT systems and services
- Managing our ICT managed service provider and other technology vendors, ensuring quality service delivery and value for money
- Leading cyber security risk management, including security monitoring, vulnerability management,
incident response and staff awareness
- Strengthening ICT governance, policies, compliance and reporting, including alignment with relevant government security frameworks
- Providing strategic advice and practical technology solutions to support organisational needs and continuous improvement
- Managing ICT budgets, procurement, contracts and licensing arrangements
- Working collaboratively with the Digital team to support shared infrastructure, applications, access management and technical dependencies
- Building strong relationships across AITSL and promoting a proactive, security-conscious approach to technology
About you
You're an experienced ICT professional who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on problem-solving. You understand the importance of secure, reliable technology and can translate complex technical matters into practical advice that supports organisational decision-making.
You're comfortable working independently, managing external service providers and building trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You bring a team-oriented, solutions-focused approach and enjoy finding opportunities to improve the way technology supports people and business outcomes.
You will bring:
- At least five years' experience with increasing responsibility in ICT management, service delivery, infrastructure and information security
- Strong technical knowledge of Azure cloud infrastructure, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, identity and access management, monitoring, backups and disaster recovery
- Demonstrated experience in cyber security, information security frameworks, risk management and data privacy
- Experience managing ICT vendors, service providers, contracts, procurement and budgets
- Strong ICT governance, policy development and reporting capabilities
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills
- The ability to work collaboratively across business and Digital teams to manage technical dependencies and deliver effective solutions
- Strong analytical thinking, project management and problem-solving skills
- A tertiary qualification in ICT
Experience managing ICT service operations or managed services, along with knowledge of government or government agency environments, will be highly regarded.
Experience in information management will also be an advantage. Bring your expertise to work that matters.
We're looking for someone who can see the bigger picture while still understanding the detail that makes technology work. Whether your background is in ICT leadership, service management, infrastructure or cyber security, if you're passionate about building secure, effective technology environments and enjoy working with people to make things better, we'd love to hear from you.
If you meet most of the criteria but not every requirement, we encourage you to apply.
