Risk Support Group

Perth

Medical Capability & Preparedness Coordinator

Location: Perth, Western Australia
Employment Type: Full Time
Reports to: Emergency Manager
Salary: Competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Who We Are

Risk Support Group is a bespoke security and risk management company serving the needs of private clients and select organisations. We use multiple professional capabilities to support our client’s needs, including but not limited to physical/technical security and monitoring, intelligence and investigations, surveillance, logistics support, and emergency management.

Take Your Medical Experience in a New Direction

Are you an experienced paramedic, emergency nurse or medical professional ready to make a broader impact?

Ready to step away from FIFO rosters and shift work while continuing to use your clinical experience in a meaningful way?

You understand what happens during a medical emergency. You also know that an effective response depends on what happens beforehand: clear plans, capable people, suitable equipment, reliable systems and access to the right medical providers.

As our Medical Capability & Preparedness Coordinator, you will use your clinical experience to build and improve medical preparedness across our organisation and the diverse client environments we support. You will also coordinate specialist medical providers and services where additional expertise, resources or clinical capability is required.

This is not a traditional frontline clinical role. It is an opportunity to step into greater autonomy and use your experience to develop systems, build capability and improve how an organisation prepares for medical incidents and emergencies.

The Prospect

Reporting to the Emergency Manager, you will oversee medical preparedness across workplaces, private client environments, residences, travel, events, marine activities and remote locations.

You will develop response plans, improve systems, coordinate training, maintain medical equipment readiness and coordinate specialist medical providers across a range of operational environments including workplaces, private residences, travel, events, marine activities and remote locations.

A key part of the role is understanding the limits of internal capability, identifying when specialist support is required and ensuring the right clinical resources are engaged. You will oversee the broader medical preparedness function while coordinating a network of providers to deliver specialist services where needed.

You will not be expected to personally deliver every medical service. An important part of the role is recognising when specialist support is needed, engaging the right providers and ensuring individual services support the wider medical capability.

This position offers a practical mix of planning, systems development, training, provider coordination, research and operational support.

What You Will Do

Build Medical Capability and Preparedness

You will take an organisation-wide view of medical readiness and turn identified needs into practical improvements.

You will:

- Assess medical preparedness across people, plans, equipment, systems and providers

- Develop and maintain medical response plans, procedures and practical tools

- Establish appropriate first aid and medical readiness standards for different environments

- Identify capability gaps and develop realistic improvement plans

- Integrate medical preparedness into emergency management and business continuity arrangements

- Prepare clear medical advice, reports and recommendations for leadership

- Use lessons from incidents, audits and exercises to improve capability

Develop Training, Exercises and Response Plans

You will help ensure people are prepared and confident to respond when required.

You will:

- Develop a structured medical training program aligned with operational risks

- Deliver practical first response and emergency care training where appropriate

- Design realistic medical scenarios and emergency exercises

- Coordinate accredited training through suitable providers

- Support competency checks and skills-verification activities

- Maintain training records, competency information and forward schedules

- Develop medical contingency plans for workplaces, travel, events and operational activities

The focus will be on practical readiness,

not simply completing training.

Coordinate Medical Providers and Support

You will manage access to external medical services where internal capability is not suitable or sufficient.

You will:

- Source and coordinate providers for specialist, niche or higher-acuity care requirements

- Coordinate clinical call-outs, telehealth, event personnel and other medical support

- Manage medical personnel requirements for travel, events and remote activities

- Establish clear scopes, responsibilities and escalation arrangements

- Maintain a reliable network of medical and healthcare providers

- Monitor provider suitability, availability and performance

- Support provider engagement, procurement and contract administration

- Keep oversight of the broader medical capability when several providers are involved

You will know when to coordinate, when to escalate and when a matter must be referred to an appropriate treating professional.

Maintain Equipment and Site Readiness

You will oversee the equipment and supplies that support the organisation’s medical response capability.

You will:

- Coordinate medical equipment and first aid assets across multiple locations

- Set equipment standards based on the environment, activity and level of risk

- Manage procurement, provisioning, replenishment, servicing and replacement

- Maintain accurate asset and compliance records

- Conduct or coordinate readiness inspections and equipment audits

- Confirm equipment is current, serviceable, accessible and fit for purpose

- Research new equipment and recommend practical improvements

- Manage relationships with suppliers and maintenance providers

Support Medical Planning and Operational Delivery

You will provide medical planning, research and coordination across a varied portfolio of activities.

This may include:

- Preparing medical support plans for travel, events and operational activities

- Developing travel medical briefs and location-specific response arrangements

- Researching medical equipment, services and better practice

- Coordinating medical personnel for events or specific activities

- Providing first responder support at selected events

- Supporting the initial coordination of an incident until the appropriate clinical or emergency resource is engaged

- Attending sites and activities to assess risks and confirm readiness

- Contributing to medical projects and improvement initiatives

The position does not replace primary healthcare, ambulance services or specialist treatment.

Sound judgement about professional scope, referral and escalation will be essential.

Strengthen Pandemic and Public Health Preparedness

You will help ensure the organisation can respond to pandemics, communicable disease outbreaks and other public health events.

You will:

- Develop and maintain practical pandemic and outbreak response arrangements

- Include public health risks in emergency and business continuity plans

- Plan and support outbreak exercises

- Consider infection control, PPE, workforce protection and supply continuity

- Coordinate specialist medical or public health advice when required

- Turn changing public health information into clear organisational actions

What You Will Bring

You will combine strong medical experience with the ability to build capability at an organisational level.

You can see the larger system while remaining focused on the details that determine whether a plan will work.

You are comfortable working independently, influencing stakeholders and coordinating people with different areas of expertise.

Essential

- A professional background in paramedicine, emergency nursing, emergency healthcare or a closely related field

- Relevant qualifications and current professional registration where applicable

- Strong experience in emergency care, medical response or an operational health environment

- Experience developing medical capability, training, response plans, exercises,

systems or processes

- The ability to turn clinical knowledge into practical organisational improvements

- Experience coordinating stakeholders, suppliers or service providers

- Experience assessing requirements and coordinating specialist medical providers, contractors or healthcare services across varied operational environments

- Sound understanding of professional scope, escalation and referral

- Strong planning, project coordination and written communication skills

- Professional judgement, discretion and attention to detail

- Ability to obtain Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance

- Current Driver's License

Highly Regarded

Experience in any of the following would be valuable:

- Organisation-wide medical preparedness

- Qualifications and experience in safety management

- Emergency management or business resilience

- Medical scenario and exercise development

- Management of clinical or specialist care providers

- Workplace, travel, event, remote or maritime medicine

- Medical equipment systems and assurance programmes

- Clinical governance or healthcare systems improvement

- Training design and competency assessment

- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

- Private client, executive support, remote operations or other high-trust environments

- Pandemic or public health preparedness

You do not need to have delivered every part of the role.

We are looking for strong clinical foundations, demonstrated capability-development experience and the potential to take ownership of a wider organisational function.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to move beyond responding to individual incidents and improve how an organisation prepares for them.

You will have the autonomy to assess what is needed, create practical solutions and coordinate the people and resources required to deliver them.

The role offers:

- Genuine ownership of a varied medical capability portfolio

- The opportunity to create and improve systems

- Direct collaboration with the Emergency Manager and senior stakeholders

- A balance of planning, training, research and practical delivery

- Exposure to corporate, private client, travel, event, marine and remote environments

- The opportunity to coordinate specialist medical providers and services across diverse operational, private client, travel and emergency management environments

- The satisfaction of seeing your work improve real-world readiness

For the right person, this is a chance to progress from an experienced clinician or responder into a trusted organisational capability specialist.

About You

You look beyond the immediate incident.

You consider whether people know what to do, whether the equipment is suitable, whether escalation pathways are clear and whether the response plan will work under pressure.

You enjoy building capability in others and can turn an unclear requirement into a practical plan, system, exercise or service arrangement.

You are comfortable working across different environments and understand that medical preparedness is often achieved by bringing together the right mix of people, equipment, plans and specialist providers. You know how to coordinate resources, maintain oversight and ensure all elements work together as part of a broader capability.

You also know when specialist expertise is needed. You can coordinate the right providers while retaining oversight of the broader preparedness outcome.

Most importantly, you are ready to use your medical experience to make an impact at an organisational level.

Additional Requirements

The successful candidate will need to:

- Be based in Perth and available for metropolitan and regional travel

- Maintain relevant professional registration and agreed competencies

- Participate in occasional event or out-of-hours activities by prior arrangement

- Satisfy relevant employment and background screening requirements

- Handle sensitive personal, medical and client information appropriately

- Work within professional scope and organisational governance arrangements

Please note that a cover letter is an essential part of your application. Your cover letter should clearly demonstrate how your experience, skills and qualifications align with the requirements of the role. This will assist us in assessing your application against the relevant selection criteria.
