We’re seeking an experienced Employment Law Principal Lawyer to lead and grow our practice across employment law, industrial relations and work health and safety. This is an opportunity to shape your practice, lead a talented team and build lasting client relationships while driving the continued growth of one of Greater Sydney’s leading law firms.

The Opportunity

As a Principal Lawyer, you’ll shape the direction of our Employment practice, lead complex matters and play a key role in its continued success.

Working with a sophisticated client base, you’ll deliver commercially focused advice across employment law, industrial relations and work health and safety. You’ll build trusted client and referral relationships, pursue new business opportunities and expand your practice.

You’ll also mentor and develop lawyers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team. With the backing of Coleman Greig’s reputation and resources, you’ll have the platform to grow your practice and make a lasting impact.

What We Are Looking For

We’re looking for an established practitioner with the technical expertise, commercial mindset and leadership capability to make a real impact.

You will bring:

- 10+ years’ post-admission experience, with substantial expertise across employment law, industrial relations and/or workplace health and safety law, which could include:

- Strong experience advising employers on workplace safety obligations, WHS compliance, risk management, workplace incidents, regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings, including matters involving SafeWork NSW and other safety regulators; or

- Extensive experience in employment and industrial relations matters, including unfair dismissal, general protections, workplace disputes,

enterprise bargaining and proceedings before the Fair Work Commission.

- A proven ability to build trusted client relationships, develop referral networks and generate new business opportunities across employment, industrial relations and workplace safety.

- Demonstrated leadership experience, with a proven performance of stakeholder engagement.

- A strategic mindset to help grow the Employment & Workplace Safety practice, identify new opportunities and work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

- Autonomy to grow your practice, with the opportunity to leverage your existing client relationships, develop new business and shape the strategic direction of your team.

- A collaborative and supportive partnership environment, working alongside experienced Principals and Directors who value cross-referrals,

knowledge-sharing and collective success.

- Strong business development and marketing support to help raise your profile, strengthen client relationships and identify new opportunities for growth.

- Competitive remuneration that recognises your experience, expertise, leadership and contribution to the business.

- Flexible working arrangements that provide the autonomy to balance client commitments, leadership responsibilities and life outside work.

- Professional development and leadership opportunities, including mentoring emerging talent and supporting the development of the next generation of lawyers.

- A range of additional benefits, including novated leasing, gym membership discounts, purchased annual leave and access to our confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

- Opportunities to give back, through pro bono initiatives, community partnerships and volunteering.

- A welcoming and connected culture, with regular firmwide events, social gatherings and opportunities to build relationships across our offices.
