Mornington Cycles is a much loved local bike shop and has been operating since 2019 on the Mornington Peninsula. Our customers include weekend riders, commuters, roadies and trail riders, and our team loves bikes as much as they do. We’re looking for a reliable all-rounder to work across the shop floor and the workshop.
The role
You’ll split your time between the workshop and the shop floor. One hour you might be servicing a bike, and the next you’ll be helping a customer update their riding gear.
What you’ll do:
- Build new bikes from the box so they’re ready to ride and safe to hand over.
- Service and repair bikes as per the customer’s request.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and explain them clearly to customers. Provide accurate quotes and turnaround times.
- Help customers find the right bike, parts, accessories and apparel for their riding.
- Book in services, process sales and keep job cards up to date.
- Open and close the shop, including lifting and lowering our manual roller door.
- Help with stock receiving, merchandising and keeping the shop and workshop clean and organised.
About you
Must have:
- Strong mechanical knowledge of bikes and components.
- The ability to build a bike from the box,
including assembly, adjustment and a safety check.
- A focus on customer service. You’re friendly and patient, and you can explain technical things in plain language.
- The physical ability to safely operate a manual roller door. You’ll also need to lift and move bikes and stock boxes.
- Reliability, positive organisation and the ability to manage several workshop jobs at once.
Ideally:
- Previous employment in a bike shop.
- Experience with e-bikes, hydraulic brakes, suspension servicing or electronic shifting.
- Ability to learn on the job and take direction when required.
- Experience using a POS or workshop management system.
What we offer
- Competitive pay based on your experience.
- Staff discounts and industry deals on bikes, parts and gear.
- Ongoing training and supplier product clinics.
- A friendly, supportive team in a coastal location.
- Room to grow into a senior workshop or management role.
How to apply
Apply online. In your cover letter, tell us about your mechanical experience, including any bike shop roles, and a time you went above and beyond for a customer.
We review applications as they come in, so we encourage you to apply early.
