An opportunity is available for a proactive Safety Advisor to join an established civil infrastructure contractor in Sydney in a hands-on role, acting as the 2IC to the Safety Manager.

You’ll play an important part in implementing safety initiatives, supporting project teams and ensuring compliance across HSEQ

Key Responsibilities

- Support the Safety Manager with the implementation and ongoing management of site safety systems and initiatives.
- Lead day-to-day HSEQ activities, including site inspections, safety walks, audits and risk assessments.
- Conduct incident investigations, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor pre-starts, hazard cards, safety observations and event notifications.
- Provide practical HSEQ advice to Site Engineers, Project Engineers, Project Managers, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
- Maintain WHS documentation, including training records, first aid records, risk registers and corrective actions.
- Monitor environmental compliance, including erosion and sediment controls, spill response and waste management.
- Conduct quality inspections against project specifications and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).




- Support return-to-work processes and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
- Prepare reports, analyse safety trends and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience

- Previous experience in a Safety Advisor or HSEQ role, within water and utilities projects
- Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and site safety practices.
- Experience conducting site inspections, audits, incident investigations and risk assessments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence site teams.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and the confidence to take ownership of day-to-day safety matters.
- Relevant WHS qualifications, such as a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
