Role Description The Estimator is a full time, on-site role based in Newcastle, NSW, responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for fabrication projects. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing drawings and specifications, performing material take-offs, and calculating labor, materials, and subcontractor costs. The Estimator will request and analyze supplier quotes, prepare formal quotations and tenders, and collaborate with the fabrication and project teams to ensure estimates are practical and aligned with production capabilities. This role also involves updating and maintaining estimating data,



communicating with clients and stakeholders about scope and pricing, and supporting project handover with transparent documentation and cost breakdowns.

Qualifications
Experience in estimating within fabrication or engineering environments, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications.
Solid numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including accurate cost calculation and attention to detail.
Proficiency with estimating or drafting software and solid skills in MS Excel and other basic office applications.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with workshop staff, suppliers, and clients.
Good organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple quotes and deadlines.
Understanding of fabrication processes, materials (such as steel and other metals), and relevant industry standards or regulations.
Relevant qualification in steel fabrication, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Commitment to safety, ethical business practices, and continuous learning in estimating methods and industry developments.
