This independent insights consultancy has spent two decades becoming one of the most trusted voices in Australian financial services research. When they publish, super funds, banks and wealth managers pay attention, and so does the media.
Now they’re looking for an Associate Insights Director to help lead that voice.
The business
100% independently owned, with a global footprint and long-standing relationships with many of Australia’s leading super funds, banks, private banks, and wealth managers.
Their work spans custom and syndicated research: investor and adviser sentiment, brand strategy, client satisfaction, customer journeys, and market positioning.
And the thought leadership tackles the questions the whole industry cares about. How do different generations approach investing? What will the great intergenerational wealth transfer mean? Are women investors getting the same service as men? How are Australians really preparing for retirement?
The opportunity
This is a senior, public-facing role for someone who loves the numbers and the story in equal measure.
You’ll run research programs end to end, look after a portfolio of senior clients, and become a recognised name in market, on stage, on webinars, in the media and in print.
There’s also a commercial edge. You’ll help turn their thought leadership into new revenue, finding fresh ways to package, syndicate and sell their insight.
What you’ll do
- Lead quant programs: Custom and syndicated, from first brief to final presentation.
- Own the quality:
Design robust studies and sign off the analysis before it goes anywhere near a client.
- Find the “so what”: Turn data into a clear point of view and recommendations clients can act on.
- Command the room: Present to executive teams and industry audiences and hold your ground under challenge.
- Be the voice: Write and front reports, articles, webinars, and conference sessions.
- Grow the business: Spot opportunities in client conversations and shape proposals and pricing.
- Develop people: Coach researchers across onshore and offshore teams.
- Lead on AI: Help shape how the team uses AI in analysis and reporting.
What you’ll bring
- 6 to 8+ years in market research, ideally agency or consultancy side.
- Strong quant skills: survey design, sampling and weighting, segmentation, and market sizing. Q or SPSS essential, R or Python a bonus.
- Confident, polished presentation skills with senior audiences.
- Sharp writing that leads with the insight, not the data tables.
- Experience managing people, or a real appetite to lead.
- Financial services experience is a plus, but genuine curiosity about super, wealth and investing matters more.
- Ambition, commercial instinct and a desire to become an authority in the space.
From financial services, financial journalism, or policy, with solid B2B and B2C quant skills? They’d love to hear from you too.
Why this one?
- Big reputation, small team: Entrepreneurial energy, backed by the resources of a much larger business.
- Global reach: International clients, with opportunities to travel or spend time in overseas offices.
- Real investment in you: Leadership that backs your training, education, and personal profile.
