Signature Staff is recruiting for an experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to join an established Townsville builder delivering high-quality custom homes and complex residential projects.

This is a hands-on, site-based leadership role. You will be responsible for organising the crew, setting out work, allocating daily and weekly tasks, maintaining quality standards and ensuring projects continue to move efficiently.

Around 60-70% of your time will be focused on leading and organising the site team, with the remaining time spent assisting with materials, planning upcoming works and working closely with management.

The Role
You will be responsible for:

- Leading and coordinating carpenters, apprentices and site personnel
- Setting out complex two-storey residential projects
- Allocating daily and weekly tasks
- Reading and interpreting plans and construction details
- Monitoring quality, productivity and progress
- Identifying site issues and finding practical solutions
- Planning materials and upcoming works
- Maintaining a safe, organised and productive site
- Working closely with management to keep projects on track

You will still be hands-on when required, but your key responsibility will be ensuring the crew is organised, productive and working to a high standard.

What We're Looking For
You will need:

- Trade qualification as a Carpenter




- Extensive carpentry experience, ideally 5+ years
- Strong experience in high-end or custom residential construction
- Previous Leading Hand or crew leadership experience
- Ability to confidently set out complex two-storey builds
- Strong framing, roof, floor system and general structural carpentry experience
- Excellent plan-reading skills
- Strong organisation and forward planning
- Confidence leading a team and giving transparent direction
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Current driver's licence and White Card

Career Progression
This position has been created with a clear pathway into Site Supervision.

The successful candidate will initially take ownership of the crew and day-to-day site operations, with the opportunity to progressively take on greater supervisory responsibility as the business continues to grow.
