We’re hiring a Platform Engineer who treats the internal platform like a product - not a “DevOps support”
function that mainly debugs pipelines and fulfills tickets. The platform should make the secure, reliable path the easiest path, so teams can ship changes independently with minimal bespoke effort.
What outstanding looks like
- Platform as a product (DX + outcomes)
- Talks about “customers” (internal developers) and can describe discovery/feedback loops: onboarding pain points, platform usability, docs, examples, and enablement.
- Uses metrics to prove value and guide prioritization (e.g., lead time for changes, deployment frequency,
change failure rate, MTTR, onboarding time, ticket volume, platform adoption by teams/services).
- Describes an explicit operating model: support boundaries, SLAs/expectations, escalation path, and how platform changes are rolled out safely.
- Golden paths via composable building blocks
- Builds opinionated, reusable components (templates/modules/components) rather than bespoke per-
team scripts.
