A leading Australian manufacturer specialising in custom sheet metal fabrication and precision CNC machining for over 35 years is seeking an experienced CNC Brake Press Operator / Setter to join our team.

Operating from a modern, well-equipped manufacturing facility with CNC brake presses ranging from 45 tonnes to 1000 tonnes, we service a wide range of industries and pride ourselves on quality workmanship, precision and attention to detail.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Brake Press Operator / Setter capable of independently programming, setting up and operating CNC brake presses to manufacture precision sheet metal components. The successful applicant must have strong knowledge of sheet metal forming, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to produce high-quality components to engineering drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

- Program, set up and operate CNC brake press machines
- Select and install appropriate tooling, set offsets, backstops and bending parameters
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, bend tables and work instructions
- Determine bending sequences and compensate for material spring-back
- Form a wide range of materials, including mild steel, high-strength steel, aluminium, Bisalloy and stainless steel
- Produce complex profiles and components to tight dimensional and angular tolerances
- Perform first-off inspections and ongoing quality checks using precision measuring instruments
- Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot bending and production issues
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records
- Follow company quality systems, work instructions and applicable defence-sector requirements




- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working workplace

Qualifications & Experience

- Minimum 2 years' experience in CNC brake press setting and operation
- Proven ability to independently program, set up and operate CNC brake presses
- Knowledge of Cybelec CNC controllers advantageous
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience producing complex bends and profiles to tight tolerances
- Sound understanding of material properties, bend allowances and spring-back
- Experience forming high-strength steels and Bisalloy highly regarded
- Competence using precision measuring and inspection equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
