SERO4 Ltd | The MARA Project – Women's Reintegration Service

Make a real difference in the lives of women transitioning from custody into the community.

Join SERO4's MARA Project

Are you passionate about supporting women, creating positive change and making a meaningful difference in your community?

SERO4 is seeking a compassionate, motivated and experienced Community Reintegration Worker to join our MARA Project team in Rockhampton, Central Queensland.

The MARA Project is Queensland's statewide Women's Reintegration Service, funded by Queensland Corrective Services. We work alongside women transitioning from custody back into the community, providing individualised, trauma-informed and culturally safe support.

We believe that every woman deserves the opportunity to build a positive future. Our approach is grounded in respect, accountability, hope and the understanding that sustainable change happens through connection, trust and meaningful support.

About the Opportunity

As a Community Reintegration Worker, you will work directly with women following their release from custody, supporting them to navigate challenges, build independence and establish positive connections within their communities.

This is a community-based, outreach-focused role where no two days are the same. You will have the opportunity to build meaningful professional relationships with women, advocate for their needs and support them to work towards their individual goals.

What You'll Be Doing

Working within the MARA model, you will:

- Provide individualised, strengths-based case management to women transitioning from custody into the community.

- Build supportive, professional relationships with women, recognising their individual experiences, strengths and goals.

- Support women to access housing, healthcare, mental health and alcohol and other drug services, education, employment and other community supports.

- Work collaboratively with Queensland Corrective Services, and other stakeholders to support positive reintegration outcomes.

- Provide practical and emotional support that encourages independence, resilience and community connection.

- Advocate alongside women to assist them in navigating services and overcoming barriers.

- Support women to develop and work towards their individual Path to Change.

- Maintain accurate and timely case notes, reporting and data entry in accordance with organisational requirements.

- Travel throughout the service region as required to meet with women and stakeholders.

At MARA, we recognise that reintegration is not always a straightforward journey. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of meeting women where they are at, building trust and walking alongside them as they work towards sustainable change.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting women and understands the importance of providing respectful, non-judgemental and culturally safe support.

Ideally, you will bring:

- Relevant qualifications and/or experience in community services, social work, human services, justice or a related field.

- An understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred practice.

- Experience in case management, advocacy or community-based support.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with women, colleagues and external stakeholders.

- A commitment to culturally safe practice, particularly when working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.

- The ability to work independently while remaining connected to and supported by a wider team.

- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.

- A genuine commitment to supporting women to achieve positive, long-term outcomes.

Experience working within the justice, homelessness, mental health, alcohol and other drugs or community services sectors will be highly regarded.
