Assist with the preparation, general upkeep and maintenance of Club‑owned vessels, including safety and support boats.
Provide practical assistance with waterfront preparations and equipment associated with Club sailing activities and events, as directed by the Marina Manager.
Member and Customer Service
Assist members and visitors with general marina enquiries and berthing requirements
Provide fuel services and assist with recording marina sales
Help maintain a welcoming and professional environment for members and guests
Additional Responsibilities – Marina Assistant Progression
As you gain experience and demonstrate the skills and capabilities required, there may be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities, including:
Coordinate scheduled slipping activities and communicate relevant dates or changes to members
Upkeep and maintenance for club vessels
Maintenance and care of marina and yard equipment
Refuelling of club vessels
Provide additional operational and logistical support for Club sailing activities and major boating events, as required.
About You
You are practical, dependable and willing to learn. You enjoy working as part of a team, are comfortable with hands‑on work and understand the importance of providing good service to members and visitors.
You will bring:
Valuable communication and interpersonal skills
General boating knowledge and rope splicing skills
An interest in recreational sailing and boating, and a willingness to assist with the Club's broader waterfront activities.
A practical approach to maintenance and problem‑solving
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and email
A current Victorian Recreational Boat Operator Licence and driver's licence
The ability to work weekends on a rotating roster
Previous marina or boating industry experience is beneficial. A Coxswain's ticket or relevant marina training would also be an advantage.
We're open to someone who is looking to build their experience, provided they have the right attitude, a willingness to learn and an interest in developing within the role.
