About the role
Make a real difference in someone's everyday life
A.P. Care Services is looking for compassionate, reliable and dedicated Support Workers to join a small team providing personalised care to an older gentleman living with quadriplegia in his own home.
Our client is non-verbal and requires assistance with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, mobility, communication and mealtime support due to swallowing difficulties.
We are looking for someone who is patient, attentive, dependable and genuinely enjoys making a positive difference in another person's life.
You don't need to have experience in high intensity care. If you have a background in disability or aged care and are willing to learn, we will provide comprehensive client-specific training and competency assessments to help you develop the skills required.
Key responsibilities
- Providing respectful personal care and continence support.
- Assisting with mobility, positioning and transfers using specialised equipment.
- Supporting meals, fluids and swallowing management in accordance with care plans.
- Providing specialised oral care and suctioning support once trained and assessed as competent.
- Supporting non-verbal communication and recognising individual needs.
- Assisting with daily routines, household tasks and general wellbeing.
- Maintaining a safe, comfortable and supportive home environment.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in disability support, aged care or a similar caring role.
- A compassionate,
patient and respectful approach.
- Reliability, flexibility and a solid sense of responsibility.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to undertake specialised training and follow established care procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a dedicated team.
Essential requirements:
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check/Police Check or willingness to obtain.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current driver's licence.
- Ability to meet relevant screening and employment requirements.
What We Offer
- Comprehensive client-specific training and ongoing support.
- Consistent shifts within a small, established care team.
- A rewarding opportunity to develop specialised support skills.
- Supportive management and a friendly, family-owned organisation.
- The opportunity to build a meaningful, long-term working relationship with the person you support.
