We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fire Services Estimator to join a growing fire protection contractor based in Melbourne. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in the fire protection industry who can accurately price projects, review tender documentation and help secure new business across wet and dry fire services.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for wet and dry fire protection projects.
- Review architectural drawings, hydraulic drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Complete quantity take-offs and calculate labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor costs where applicable.
- Obtain and review supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Identify project exclusions, variations, risks and discrepancies within tender documentation.
- Prepare detailed tender submissions and pricing schedules.
- Liaise with builders, consultants, suppliers and project managers to clarify scope and pricing.
- Assist with tender follow-ups and maintaining relationships with prospective clients.
- Ensure estimates are completed accurately and submitted within tender deadlines.
- Assist with reviewing project costs and budgets when required.
About you
- Previous estimating experience within the fire protection industry.
- Knowledge of wet fire services, including sprinkler and hydrant systems.
- Knowledge of dry fire services, including detection, alarms and occupant warning systems.
- The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience completing material take-offs and labour calculations.
- Solid attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Good communication and commercial awareness.
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders.
- Experience using estimating software, construction documentation platforms or digital drawing tools.
