Woolacotts Consulting Engineers is looking for an experienced Principal Hydraulic Engineer to join our senior leadership team and take a leading role in the continued growth of our hydraulic engineering capability.

This is an opportunity for an experienced hydraulic engineer who wants more than simply another senior position.

You will have the opportunity to develop and lead the hydraulic engineering business, build strong client relationships, win and deliver projects, mentor and grow a team, and play a significant role in the future direction of an established Australian engineering consultancy.

The opportunity

As Principal Hydraulic Engineer, you will take a leadership role in the development and growth of Woolacotts' hydraulic engineering capability.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Leading and growing the hydraulic engineering discipline within Woolacotts.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and establishing new client relationships.
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and converting them into successful projects.




- Taking responsibility for the successful delivery of hydraulic engineering projects from inception through to completion.
- Providing high-level technical advice and engineering solutions to clients and project teams.
- Leading, mentoring and developing hydraulic engineers and other technical staff.
- Working collaboratively with our structural and civil engineering teams to deliver integrated multidisciplinary solutions.
- Managing project resources, programme, budgets and commercial outcomes.
- Supporting the broader senior leadership team in the continued growth and development of Woolacotts.
- Representing Woolacotts with clients, architects, builders, developers and other industry stakeholders.
- Maintaining high professional and technical standards across hydraulic engineering services.

What we are looking for

We are interested in talking to experienced hydraulic engineers who have the technical capability, commercial acumen and ambition to take a genuine leadership role.

Ideally, you will have:

- A degree in Engineering, preferably with a relevant hydraulic/building services engineering qualification.
- 15+ years' relevant professional experience, although we will consider exceptional candidates with less experience.
- Strong technical capability and sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, codes and industry practices.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of hydraulic engineering projects.
- A proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
- Demonstrated business development and project-winning capability.




- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project financial performance.
- Experience leading, mentoring and developing engineers and technical staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- CPEng, NER, RPEQ or equivalent professional accreditation, or the ability to obtain the appropriate accreditation.
- A proactive, commercially minded and entrepreneurial approach.

You may already be a Principal or Associate Director, or you may be an experienced Senior/Associate Hydraulic Engineer who is ready to take the next step.

Location

The successful candidate can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.

Some interstate travel will be required from time to time to support clients, projects and business development opportunities.
