We are seeking a dynamic and passionate hospitality skilled to become the General Manager / Licensee at Hotel Pennant Hills.

About Us:

Founded in 1967, Lesday is a growing, family-owned hospitality business with a portfolio of 12 pubs across the North Shore, Western Sydney and Wollongong.

We pride ourselves on a group culture that supports our staff, and on operating quality venues that offer a warm and friendly environment to all our patrons.

Lesday purchased Hotel Pennant Hills in 1998, when it was called “Pennant Hills Inn” and had the nostalgic St Patrick’s Night Club. Times have definitely changed since then. In 2014, one of the group’s first renovations transitioned the beloved pub towards a more family-friendly style, as we believed this was the direction the industry was heading.

After the renovations, Hotel Pennant Hills now operates a large, family-friendly bistro with a kids’ play area, and regularly hosts functions. We require the licensee to have experience overseeing large bistro operations and supporting the Head Chef to balance quality, value and profitability. With a team of over 40 staff, we’re looking for someone with solid experience in rostering and managing wage percentages, who can recruit, train and support our kitchen, floor, bar and gaming teams while building a positive workplace culture.

While qualifications and experience are important, we prioritise finding the right person for our company: someone ambitious and motivated who works well with a range of people, whether they are venue staff, patrons or suppliers.

We give our licensees discretion in the operation of the pub, with balanced work hours, as we don’t believe in micro-managing every aspect of the venue. However, this requires the licensee to take initiative in all aspects of the venue and achieve results that justify the autonomy given. We don’t have group managers at Lesday and have a small head office team, so communication is directly between you and the owner.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Oversee budgets,



rostering, wage percentages, stock control and purchasing to meet the venue’s financial targets.

- Experience managing off-premises retail, including stock control, ordering and margins, as Pennant Hills operates a large off-premises bottle shop.

- Manage the gaming, TAB and Keno areas, ensuring responsible service and a welcoming experience for every customers.

- Run the venue day to day, upholding high standards of service, presentation and guest satisfaction.

- Build and grow the venue’s functions, catering and events business.

- Follow cash-handling procedures and keep financial reporting accurate.

- Make sure the venue complies with liquor licensing, responsible service of alcohol, food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.

- Partner with the marketing team to deliver promotions, entertainment and events that bring in new guests and keep regulars coming back.

- Maintain a good understanding of the pub’s financial operations, specifically the banking and reconciliation process.

About You:

- A minimum of 3 to 4 years’ experience managing a comparable hospitality venue, ideally as a Licensee or General Manager.

- Current RSA, RCG, ARCG and licensee certifications.

- A hands-on style of leadership across the hotel’s day-to-day operations.

- Proven results and in-depth knowledge of running a Top 300 gaming venue.

- Strong communication skills when working with staff.

- Confidence operating and managing a stock management system.

- A good grasp of the technology systems used in hotels.

- Organised, motivated and focused on delivering great customer service.
