Mesh is a Canberra-based cyber security consultancy. We work with Australian Federal Government agencies and government-adjacent organisations to design, build and maintain secure solutions that hold up under scrutiny.

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our Modern Solutions capability. The team designs, builds and maintains secure cloud, application, network, identity and endpoint solutions for our clients, applying contemporary technologies and architectures to their problems.

About the role

You will lead projects to design and deploy security solutions across SD-WAN, Security Service Edge (SSE), cloud networking (Azure, AWS and GCP), data centre networking, network segmentation, secure internet gateways, wireless, firewalls, LAN, email and cloud security. You will also manage and maintain on-premises and cloud network systems, analyse event data, and work with the wider cyber security team on threat detection, alerting, reporting and incident response.

What you will do

- Design, deploy, manage and maintain network and network security systems
- Automate deployments, upgrades and maintenance using scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Integrate network solutions with XDR, SIEM and SOAR platforms
- Lead break-fix and triage of network issues, using strong analytical and problem-solving skills




- Develop mid-level and junior network engineers and administrators
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Modern Solutions capability
- Explain technical concepts clearly in writing and in person, to customers and peers alike

What we are looking for

- 5+ years’ experience in a network engineering role
- 2+ years’ experience leading network design and architecture projects
- Knowledge of government and industry frameworks, including PSPF, ISM, Essential Eight, DISP, PCI-DSS, NIST and ISO 27001/31000
- Clear, concise communication skills and confidence presenting to customers and peers

Desirable

- Vendor certifications from Fortinet, HPE/Aruba, Juniper, Cisco or Palo Alto Networks
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cyber security or a related field, or equivalent experience
- A background in ICT, cyber security, Defence, law enforcement or a related field
