Hedland Eye Care is seeking an experienced Optical Dispenser to join our independent optometry practice in Port Hedland.

This is a hands on optical dispensing role working closely with our optometrist to provide high quality prescription eyewear and patient care. The role covers the full dispensing process, from interpreting prescriptions and helping patients select appropriate frames and lenses through to measurements, fitting, adjustments, repairs and final delivery of spectacles.

Key Responsibilities

- Interpret optical prescriptions and assist patients with appropriate eyewear solutions.
- Advise patients on spectacle lens designs, materials, coatings and treatments based on their prescription, visual requirements, occupation and lifestyle.
- Assist patients with frame selection, taking into consideration prescription requirements, facial measurements, fit, comfort and intended use.
- Take accurate optical measurements including pupillary distances, fitting heights and other measurements required for prescription eyewear.
- Determine appropriate fitting parameters for single vision, multifocal and other ophthalmic lens designs.
- Fit and adjust spectacle frames to achieve appropriate alignment, comfort and optical positioning.
- Prepare and process prescription spectacle orders, ensuring prescription, lens, frame and measurement details are accurate.
- Liaise with optical laboratories and lens suppliers regarding prescription orders and technical requirements.
- Inspect and verify completed prescription spectacles prior to dispensing.
- Fit completed spectacles to patients and make final adjustments for comfort, alignment and appropriate optical positioning.
- Provide advice to patients regarding adaptation, use, care and maintenance of their prescription eyewear.
- Perform spectacle adjustments,



servicing and repairs including frame alignment, nose pad and screw replacement and other minor repairs.
- Investigate concerns relating to spectacle fit, comfort or adaptation and work with the optometrist where further clinical review is required.
- Operate our in house MEI EasyFit lens edging and fitting system, including preparing and fitting prescription lenses into spectacle frames.
- Maintain accurate dispensing records, measurements and spectacle orders.
- Maintain current knowledge of spectacle lenses, lens designs, coatings, frame materials and developments in optical dispensing.

About You We are looking for someone with demonstrated optical dispensing experience who has:
- Strong knowledge of spectacle prescriptions, ophthalmic lenses and frame fitting.
- Experience taking accurate optical and facial measurements.
- Knowledge of single vision, multifocal and other spectacle lens designs.
- Experience fitting, adjusting, servicing and repairing spectacles.
- Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy.
- Solid communication and patient service skills.
- The ability to work closely with an optometrist and as part of a small team.

Relevant optical dispensing qualifications and/or substantial relevant experience are highly regarded.

Hedland Eye Care is a locally owned independent optometry practice based in Port Hedland. We provide comprehensive eye care and optical services to communities throughout the Pilbara.

We have invested heavily in modern optical technology and provide in house spectacle lens fitting and edging, allowing many prescription spectacles to be produced locally rather than being sent to an external laboratory.

This position provides the opportunity to work in a regional independent practice with a strong technical and patient care focus.

Pay: $85,000.00 per year
