Senior Legal Counsel | Litigation & Employment | Sydney | Health Industry An opportunity for a litigation or employment lawyer to transition in-house with an established Australian organisation operating in the healthcare sector.

Why is this a excellent role?
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will work closely with the General Counsel and senior stakeholders across the business, providing practical advice on litigation, employment and workplace relations matters.

You will have responsibility for managing disputes and advising on sensitive workplace matters, while also developing your experience across commercial contracts, regulatory issues and general corporate advisory work.

You will be involved in matters from initial advice and risk assessment through to strategy, negotiation and resolution, giving you greater ownership of outcomes than is typically available in private practice.
Importantly, you will also have the opportunity to broaden your experience beyond litigation or employment law into commercial contracting, corporate advisory, governance and regulatory matters.
What work will you do?
Your responsibilities will include
- Managing litigation,
disputes and claims, including strategy, settlement negotiations and external counsel.
- Advising on employment and workplace relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary processes, terminations and workplace investigations.
- Working closely with senior management and HR on sensitive employment issues.
- Providing advice on industrial instruments, awards and enterprise agreements.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Supporting the General Counsel on corporate, regulatory, privacy and governance matters.
- Building relationships with stakeholders across the business and providing practical, commercially focused advice.
What type of person will be successful?
We are particularly interested in speaking with lawyers who have:
- Approximately 3–5 years' post-admission experience.
- A background in litigation, dispute resolution, employment or workplace relations.
- Experience gained at a reputable top-tier or mid-tier law firm.
- Strong drafting, advisory and negotiation skills.
- The confidence to manage contentious and sensitive matters.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A commercial mindset and an interest in developing broader in-house legal experience.
Previous in-house experience is not essential. Lawyers looking to make their first move from private practice are strongly encouraged to apply.
