About Brushwood

Brushwood Engineering Group is a Sydney and Melbourne consultancy covering structural, civil, façade and temporary structures engineering. We run around 1,000 projects a year, mostly short and fast-moving, so you’ll see a wide variety of work in a short time.

The role

We’re growing the Sydney structural team and need a capable engineer to join it. You’ll work on a varied portfolio of commercial and specialist projects, with technical guidance from senior engineers and our director, and your responsibility will grow as you do.

We hold a high technical standard and are looking for someone who has worked in a rigorous, well-reviewed environment.

The work spans

- Commercial structural design, including alterations, steel and concrete elements, and strata buildings
- Inspections and reports on existing buildings, including defect and remedial work
- Design and certification for balustrades, glazing, fixings and anchors
- Temporary structures and events, including staging, rigging and scaffold certification
- Some film and entertainment work, which has included large-scale productions

About you

- A BEng (Hons)



in structural or civil engineering with a strong academic record
- 3 to 5 years’ post-graduate experience, working on complex commercial or multi-disciplinary projects
- Proven experience designing to Australian Standards and the NCC, with solid steel, concrete and timber fundamentals
- Able to write transparent technical reports and communicate directly with clients, builders and certifiers
- Working toward CPEng or NER, or already holding it
- Comfortable using structural analysis software and Revit, or working with a drafter who does
- Willing to do site inspections across Sydney, with a driver’s licence

You’ll stand out if you have façade, glazing or remedial experience, or have worked in temporary structures or events. What you’ll get
